Dave - A Concern ??????????????????

Post by elmerlee »

Are these THREE posts taken together a cause for concern??????

1. 2/14 by Eric;
"We are working on one last installer issue, the installation of this game is actually fairly complex compared to our other titles. At this point I think we're likely to schedule the release date for Monday the 20th to make sure nothing slips through trying to rush for Wednesday. I expect we'll post an announcement tomorrow night with the release date one way or the other."

2. 2/14 by David;
" On far more than one occasion, certainly in the past couple of weeks, this project came within an inch of cancellation"

3. 2/14 by David;
"Erik and I have had a lot of email back and forth on this one over the past 72 hours. My game does some things differently than they're used to. I'm afraid I've been very frustrating for them in this regard. Now's probably not a good time to mention anything about Maximum-Hockey LOL "

Individually these three items don't mean much but put together they may mean a future problem.I know most companies are carefull that there programs don't foul customer computers.Install programs and direct disk access can cause a great many disasters.Something must be important if the project,so close to release, was almost dropped within the past couple weeks.

Hope it means nothing.Any comment David?

The installer is coming along. There is nothing in it that is going to 'foul' a customers computer. During development Maximum-Football used, what I thought was, a fairly routine InstallShield script for installing the game. Matrix preferes to use their own installation sytsem. It seems that Maximum-Football requires some installation steps that their installer has not been asked to do before. There has been some difficulty in getting the Matrix installer to duplicate what the InstallShield installer was doing.

I'm sure it will be resolved pretty quickly.

As or the "Inch of Cancellation" That has aboslutely nothing to do with the game itself or the installation setback we've run into the past couple of days.

Nope, #1 and #3 have nothing to do with #2.

The complexity comes in the various support files the game needs setup for Windows. These are all Microsoft-approved, so no worries.
