Creating Teams?

Post by QBPR »

I see some of you guys posting that you're creating teams? What do you mean by this? Are you just creating uniforms or is there a utility out already to create rosters and such? I'm not interested in creating uni's but I am in creating rosters, just want to be sure that I'm not missing something here that I could be doing pre-release.

Something you could not do in Madden games. Create any league you want..team name and players, 3 downs or 4 downs, unlimited number of games in a season..oh man the list can go on and on...
Take a look at this info...

Run, Throw, Manage, Coach, Design Plays and More!

Matrix Games and Wintervalley Software (www.wintervalley.com) are proud to announce the second sports title in the Matrix Games line, Maximum-Football, has gone gold and is expected to release early next week as the first 3D sports strategy game of the 21st Century.

Primarily a coaching and management game, Maximum-Football is a robust North American Football game where you can change nearly every single aspect of the rules and features. Use Indoor, outdoor, Canadian, or American rules, or any combination thereof. Utilize the robust play editing system to create your own playbook specifically tailored for the team you drafted and trained in the pre-season. Compete in player run leagues and discover if you have what it takes for a championship ring.

It isn’t just managing every aspect of a team though, Maximum-Football also features fully functional coaching and arcade mode where you can watch the action or take the controls to run, pass, block, and tackle in true 3D. The feature list for Maximum-Football is tremendous, but here is a peek at just some of the key items on the list. For the complete list, please visit the Matrix Games Maximum-Football forums.

Maximum-Football Feature List:

*Multiple rules styles. Play Canadian, American Pro, American Amateur, or Indoor styles of football, all with a single game.

*Ability to mix and match some rules to create your own league with your own rules.

*Fully DirectX based with full 3D game play environment. This is not a text based game.

* The Play Development System. The most advanced play design system available for any football title on any platform. A point and draw system allows you to draw the player routes and assign scripted actions to the player along those routes. Most plays imaginable can be created with the PDS. Works with all rules styles.

*A full practice mode allows you to take to the full 3D practice field and run your newly created plays with or without a defense.

*Open source team artwork allows for simple addition of user created artwork for team uniforms and field artwork.

*Basic career mode allows for drafting players from a free agent pool, developing their skills through a training camp system, and watching them perform on the field until they eventually retire.

Discover the ultimate gridiron game! Maximum-Football will be available next week from the Matrix Games store.

Guys are probably in the planning stages. When it comes to creating teams. If you type all the data out that you want for each player, once you get the game you can immediately start inputting it.

And, of course, they are designing the unis as well.
Everytime i call it a business you call it a game. But when i call it a game you call it a business!

I am going to be creating NL seasons 1995 -2002. I have all the data set-up all I need to do is develop the formulas to give players realistic ratings for each relevant attribute based upon actual stats for the previous season. I will be creating NFL teams with accurate rosters and player performance ratings. With these rosters you can try to recreate as season with you managing one of the teams or chose a team and a year and use it in career mode to develop a "Super Bowl" winner or take a season put all the players in a draft pool and make your own team (I think you can do this). I find working with actual players (at least initially) with accurate ratings to be pretty compelling.

Would you share your formulas? That could really help.

I'd be happy to send you my spreadsheets I use to calculate the ratings and you can figure out my formulas and perhaps develop your own.

Essentially I work up a "score" for each attribute for each player by position. For instance a DB in the NFL would have the following for Coverage:

Coverage = Team Pass Defense rating + # Passes Defensed + Interception score

Each of these measurements are weighted. Then I take all of the scores and fit them to a probabilty density function (normally a normal distribution). Then knowing a player's score I can derive a percentile ranking. The percentile ranking is applied to the rating limits for the attribute (i.e., ratings between 40 to 95) and, voila, you have a rating for that attribute for that player at a particular position.

Thanks JonnieR. Seems like you have been working and thinking hard about this aspect of the game. It would be great to have rosters of past NFL teams (or individual players) that could be plugged into the game. The possibilities are endless. Thanks for your generousity.

When you create players can you upload a picture of yourself to be that players picture?

ex: I'm creating a player named Jarold Jones
Jerald Jones has no picture of him self because he's made up
Can I make a picture and upload it and use it as a picture for J.J.
CFL rules!!!
