Hi, In the stock version supply and resource are not equal. toboali undamaged is a 700 point resource center. At 700 resource per day it would be of little use to Japan. each point at a resource center produces 6 resource per day and 1 supply. So undamaged toboali produces 700 supply points and 4200 resource points per day. Because Singapore has a major HQ it can replace items.

However to do so it must have supply in excess of what is required and if Singapore is conduting air ops and has most of the Malaya Army located there it will only be able to replace items using that supply in excess of 2x required.
(I doubt you could get the Malaya Army strong enough to avoid defeat using SRA supply unloess the Japanese ignored Malaya for several months.
Most of the increase in unit strength among Allied units in SRA does not come from using items out of pool but from being out of combat and repairing items already with the unit but damaged at start of scenario.

While I see what your looking at when a unit with 0 supply has supply brought to it from inside the SRA and recovers 100 percent combat abilty, at the same time units in SRA NOT in combat run out supply. Did they eat their ammo? Units in this condition would recover if supply was provided. Units in SRA run out of supply even though they are located in great food producing areas. (WITP does not give "intrinsic"supply )
I think this is something we overlooked. China should have great intrinic value to Chinese units with no value to Japanese. Chinese units should always be considered to be in supply and only consume WITP points when they ATTACK. Likewise units in defensive postions but in otherwese "freindly" hex should always have basic supply and so all supply in such hexes would be considered to be combat.

However I think the SRA provides too little to Japan even igf the Allies get some slight benifit early in war.
The real supply problem will always be in China where the Japanese are able to effectivly knock out Chinese supply in a few month when they had been trying without effect for over 10 years to achive that. The Chinese were not interested in conducting offensive operations against the Japanese they had the supply to do so if they had thought there was any point.

Against Tom Hunter to rebuild the SAA after operations in SRA I required several months and almost 200,000 supply. (All of it imported from Home Islands)

It would have been of great value if you had documented the replacements Singapore handed out before falling. (aircraft and LCU) I think it would have been less then you are assuming. 60,000 supply is not diddlysquat. (But it goes a long way to explain why you worry so much about supply if you think 60,000 supply is noteworthy. That and if you still think resource and supply are created in equal amounts)

I thought this AAR was going to be about Japanese supply?

It is about supply for either side. It is wrong having it available the way it currently is. I'm using the Allied supply situation in the DEI specifically as it highlights the issue perfectly, regardless of player side.

As for replacements in Singapore, as I said I had them turned off as it is gamey to get replacements like 25 pounder howitzers from a bag of rice.

(I doubt you could get the Malaya Army strong enough to avoid defeat using SRA supply unloess the Japanese ignored Malaya for several months.

Mogami. What does it take to convince you? Only SRA free supply has been shipped into Singapore and Manila since Dec 7th! For your information, no supply was shipped into the SRA from outside sources...ever. Java is overflowing and has re-equipped all the P40 squadrons and maxed out the TOEs and all bases are fortifying and expanding. Had I been a gamey bastard, I would have switched all LCUs in Singapore to accept replacements and would still hold it.

Remember, zero supply does not mean 100% zero supply because the LCUs suffer diminished combat ability, not 100% reduced. As well, this is the lesser of two evils as assuming supply is mainly military and non edible causes less distortion than having supply assumed to be primarilly food (why have it in 1:1.25 ratio at resource centres if it is not?) and available in the mountains it is at resource bases now.

I just can't see how you or anyone continue to dispute the issue, especially when all that is being asked is to make supply seperate from resources via the editor to appease those who think it an issue and those who don't. Frankly, this opening six months should convince even the most die hard.

Hey bud, you don't need plugs. This is just excellent art and I'm saying so. Can't believe people still refuse to add modded art. Reading Tom and Mog's AAR for example is quite the contrast to those who have added modded art. Black and White vs HD colour TV.

This was unfortunate as it was my fault. These slower cruisers could not keep up with the Dutch cruisers they were ordered to follow (should have had the Dutch follow the British!) so the TFs ended up in seperate hexes, splitting their CAP. Getting 4 hits out of twenty torps dropped must be nice too. This was the last mission for these old D class as they are being replaced in the line by more modern ships and they are due for an upcoming refit. Oooops.

RE: Bill (IJ) vs Ron (Allies): An examination of Supply and Fuel using CHS 1.06

Post by Ron Saueracker »

So the second Japanese attempt on Palmyra fails as the last Japanese assault troops disappear from the island. Apparently the units suffered from the disappearing bug after being constantly pounded by the Marines. There were doomed anyway but the bug is a real killer. I don't think the units return in the pipeline and neither are they accounted for in the VP totals. What a mess.[:(]Man I hope this one gets nailed with the 1.8 cure all patch.

TF 12 encounters mine field at Johore Bahru (22,50) O20 lays its' first offensive minefield and along came a fly.[;)]O20 got hit by a bomber on ASW later during the turn...what sub would be travelling on the surface during daylight within rock throwing distance of Singapore and a dozen other enemy bases? Sure, it is shallow here but this is too much.
