"Remote In" - "Remote Out" buttons

Post by David Winter »

Somewhere in this mass of threads, someone asked me what "Remote In" and "Remote Out" was as seen on the leagues screen.

These are the tools for commissioner based leagues. Basically how this is intended to work is that a person is a commissioner of a league. He creates the league and sets up the base team data. Then "remote outs". This creates csv files of all the teams that he can send to his league members (or he could send the league db but these are smaller files). The Remote In is used by the league member to import his team data so it's synced with the commissioner. The league member does what they need to do, then he "Remote Out's the files and returns to the commissioner.

This is sort of a long process I know.. The other way, as mentioned, is to simply pass around the whole league file. In this age of broadband, that's probably not a bad idea either.

It doesn't work the same was as FBPro, but it's an attempt to make the game somewhat more friendly to internet leagues. Maybe the whole system won't be very useful and we'll have to find another way.

Or I may just get the online stuff working and we won't need to bother with swapping files [:)] ode to dream...

That should be helpful. Thanks you for the explanation.

David,

I was the one that was asking about those buttons on one fo the screens. But I am not clear on those terms "csv" files, "db"-- I am guessing it is data base?

So what your saying is like using notepad to create the data and then import them into the league? I guess I will have to find out myself when I get the game and play around with it[;)]

You will turn that dream into a reality I am sure. We all await it.[8D]

csv is comma separated values. Basically a text file with all the values are separated by commas (I use pipes | but same same)

DB is database. The game uses unliked Microsoft Access database for everything.
