oil versus resources

Post by longleaf »

While retreating from japanese attack in 41 and 42 I bring oil and resources from those
bases that have oil and resources, what amount of oil and resources is best for each
base or command?

Just grab as much as you think you can get. Oil and Resources are not nearly as scarce for the Allies as they are for the Japanese. So you are grabbing it more to deny it to the enemy than for your own use. Which also means that you want to grab Oil more than Resources.

That said, you probably want to drop it all off in Australia. The US produces a surplus of both, India is roughly balanced but Ozzieland is short. You can always move it again later if you feel the need to, but first priority is just keeping it out of the enemy's hands.

Longleaf,
It is correct, just get it out to Northern Oz and then after things slow down (Japs capture the OIL producing bases, move it to Sydney and Melbourne. Both will be starved for it intially. Afterwards, about one 18k TK from USA (San Diego & LA) to there per month is good.

Mr Giants

Oz actually requires about 2500 oil per day on top of its internal supply. This equates to 4 TK18 per month of oil. However, the US only has an excess of about 500 per day. This means the US can only ship out 1 TK18 per month and still meet its own requirements.

That said. Shipping oil to Oz means that on conversion by Hv Ind the oil becomes 18000 tons of fuel and 18000 tons of supply. So it is an efficient way of shipping supplies and fuel to Oz, 1 TK18 of oil being approximately equal to 1 TK18 FL and 2 AK7's + 1 AK4.5 of supply. On top of that as all the oil is burnt in the end the same amount of HI points arrive in the pool, all be it with about a 6 weeks delay from the shipping.
