WHo feels that an option to have all infantry showing rather than just three should be incorporated?
I say
YES!

RE: Quick vote!
I would like that as well. When more info is leaked about the way that the infantry combat works, it may be interesting to see if casualties are tracked by individual. This would make the man for man representation more important visually.
The 3 man representation will make the game look a bit too much like CMBB.

Heres a quick quote from Eric
"At the moment, we're planning on 3 models per squad to keep performance reasonable. However, the game supports as many men in each squad as you want, it's mainly a matter of adjusting the data files. We've been discussing adding that as an in-game option for high end machines. Right now it's on the wish list, we may or may not get to it before release, but I'd like to see it in there as well."
So its possible. It also means that modders may be able to do it if Matix dont.

I'm all for options, and having the ability to have full squad representation would enhance the attraction of the game to me.

Count me as wanting the option for entire squad being represented.

I'd like to see at least 10-12 men. I can get immersed enough with that many. But, I got used to 3 with CM series but you could split those also.
WE/I WANT 1:1 or something even 1:2 death animations in the KOIOS PANZER COMMAND SERIES don't forget Erik!
and Floating Paratroopers We grew up with Minor, Marginal and Decisive victories why rock the boat with Marginal, Decisive and Legendary?

MORE than 3! Give us full squad. Game's 3D engine seems simple enough so as not to suffer if more men are added.
3 is so Combat Mission-ish, and I hated it in that game too.

Oh and do not make all of them identical twins. It makes me puke when I remember cube-headed, moronic looks of genetically engineered CM triplet "squads". It would do so much for the atmosphere to have some variation among soldier models.
Call of Duty does fantastic job here - you never know which soldier model you'll meet and they are all historic and look good. I am talking about small variations ie some Russians have helmet, some have fur cap, some have long overcoat, some have shorter jacket. Helmet camo nets. Perhaps one guy lost his helmet? That kind of thing.
You may think it's superficial, but it's really not.
With SO MANY WW2 games on the market you have to stand out - visually as well. This game will draw comparisons to CM so why not make something visually way more appealing right from the start?
So that's settled then, we'll have full 10-12 men squads [:D] People have spoken.

You know, it's not that I don´t have these ideas and bring them in on conferences. But some things are really not possible in the long run [;)]

Good, that must mean they are possible in the short run [:D]
Nevermind, now at least you know you have Support of The People... [;)] those COD models are really fantastic.

RE: Quick vote!
Oleg,
Everything is possible. Find us a rich gamer/investor over there with a COD-sized wallet and we'll get you all those custom models you want.
Seriously though, the only thing possible in the short term is increasing the squad size. Custom models won't appear at this time out of thin air and we've already used up most of our available modeling/art time. However, the game was built to allow a fair amount of customizability and number of displayed models per squad is one of those things. The real question is performance and whether we will have time to add this as an in game option or whether it will be a XML file change or even a post-release option. We all would like to see it, but the reality of acceptable game performance and development time do have some say as well.
The thing is, we're actually handling a lot more graphics load than CM with this engine in order to get things looking as nice as they do. As a result, we end up hitting a similar performance wall on "average" machines. We'll see what we can do.
Regards,
- Erik

RE: Quick vote!
It really does not matter to me. In fact most eye candy does not matter.
I believe it was once asked that this only be seen at smaller views in CM. It would revert to the typical 3/2/1 abstraction in higher view angles. Many people even asked for military synbols to then take over in bird's eye views.
So when down in the weeds, people could see the 1:1 soldiers. To me, it does not matter after I start actually playing.

The price of 3D.
See, the old 'top down' days of Close Combat have the victory, especially those little guys charging with their bayonets....[:D]
You want a 12 man team each firing their own weapon?....check back a few years ago then...

Excuse me - are you forgetting the mini map in the corner of CC where a squad was represented by...a single symbol?
A hybrid might be good - full rep at low camera angles, and icons at higher ones.
Would not be bothered by 3-man squads either, so Oleg is outvoted.
We all really want the map editor in the second release, naturally, so we can redraw those billiard table maps from Squad Leader and relive our youth. 3 man squad representation will be just perfect for that. [:D]
RE: Quick vote!
Not fussed if they are clones. All men visual would be a start. I suppose the death of each soldier would have to be programmed in aswell.
