Mines you place during deploymeny(if you have bought them that is). Artillery and air support must also be purchased before the battle otherwise the button won´t work.

During the game there is an icon in the menu on the right-hand side of the screen of a cloud of dirt exploding. hunt around for it and that´s your artillery menu. Not all units can call in artillery, so check if the unit is in contact with the command structure. The best unit for calling in artillery if you have no spotter is your Forward Observer, he has better response time. The number next to each artillery piece(1.3 0.6 etc) is a measure of when the barrage will land. 1.2 means it will begin landing one round from the time you call it in and the shells will start falling BEFORE the enemy moves. This is important to keep track of because if you plot an artillery strike on a unit and the number is 1.7 or something he may very well be outside the artillery zone when the barrage hits.
While interviewing an anonymous US SF soldier, a Reuters News agent asked the soldier what he felt when sniping members of Al Quaeda in Afghanistan.
The soldier shrugged and replied, "Recoil."

Welcome goalie!

During the deployment you can find the button where you can place mines, anti-tank obstacles and barbed wire. Building points can be bought during the main purchase. They are all named as mines there, but can be used also as obstacles and wire.

Also check the manual which came with the game and can be found in the main folder (pdf -file).

Phil:

You can also place mine(s), one in a turn, during the game (if available) by clicking on a engineer then right click, brings up ency screen, left side of screen has a list of capabilities, look for "can remove mines in front of unit" (or similar) click on that and if your unit has mines it'll say "will place mines in front of unit" (or similar statement). Usually takes a complete turn and it places them where the engineers are facing and they are not bothered by enemy forces. artillery etc.

Have you tried the manual it's in the main SPwaw folder in pdf format ? HTH

When plotting arty and air you can set the delay time, very helpful in coordinating an airdrop. Also ploting infiltrators has its own button. When plotting infiltrators you will "lose" some while they are trying to infiltrate. Don't hesitate to keep asking questions, welcome aboard. [:D]
