Progress Update on PBEM Scenario

Post by Mike Carroll »

TankerAce had stated that is some future release he might put the production system back in the scenario for PBEM. Has there been any opportunity to do look at this?

thanx

There IS one bad thing about the production system, namely, japanese repair yards.

It's quite easy for the japs to have several 250+ yards by the end of the first year, while the allies have to do with limited capacity.

Ofcourse, accelerating shipyard production etc is also an issue.

I agree that could have some long term ramifications. I wonder if there is any way of making the Jap repair yards fixed or limiting upgrades.

The only reason I would like to see the production system is so there is 1) an incentive to commerce raiding 2) and incentive to ship resources and oil/coal around 3) some way to simulate on a limited level the strategic war.

The limited Jap ship reinforcements could be fixed abit also with some battleline units and destroyers added etc. Then the Japanese player would have to choose what has priority. Is it better to get two destroyers in 1922/26 or a Battleship in 1926/30?

To date no real progress, earlier this month I was stricken with the stupid flu, and as of now I have had a lot of college work to do (prepping for midterms as well as playing catchup).

Its still in the works, but unfortuneately due to some life issues I've had to postpone work on it for a bit. But don't worry, I still plan for it and the French navy to see the light of day.

will there be a way to have a choice if you want production or not? i might not mind production so much if it's whole units (planes or tanks like War In Russia), but if you have to match up tail plane struts with exhaust manifolds like WitP it would suck the life out of the game for me! i prefer strategic manouver and combat, not assembly - using ships and planes is a heck of a lot 'funner' than building them!

and in the end, isn't there always only 1 'right way' to maximize production to your benefit?

just striking up some friendly discussion!

I believe it is going to be tied to the scenario, so you could pick a scenario with production or not.

Thanks TankerAce, hopefully you feel better and get caught up.

Well, the theory is basically to release the current PBEM scenarios as they are now, but with production on. So (As an example), if you want Super Dreadnoughts PBEM with Production, you play scenario 10. If you want it without, you play 8.

This way, the game still retains its production off scenario for those who want it, but adds it for those who do.

They will be the same, save resources, oil, etc would be more historically adjusted to real numbers.
