Another Point of View

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Another Point of View

Post by Wild Bill »

I cannot remember if there is in existence a scenario where the human player takes the Japanese side.

I remember starting a Japanese campaign in SPWAW that went from late 1941 to 1945. I did most of the scenarios but it just never was finished.

So, I'm thinking that there is not a scenario in our repertoire published where one takes the Japanese side. Is there one [&:]

Anyway, one is on the way, dealing with Major Shimada and his tanks as they push through Malaya.

Look for it in about a week. The steady ready Wild Team is at it again!

Aye aye Sir.
Actually, at the Depot, there are a few scenarios where the human player takes the japanese side.

More, these scenarios have been designed by Japanese gamers.
These two (links below) are particularly intense: the Kota Bahru landing at Sabak beach.
I have had a nice time playing them. [:)]

As far as I know, a couple of scenarios are going to be released soon. Still from the Japanese point of view and still designed by Japanese gamers.

But, of course, it would be great to see Japanese scenarios designed by Wild Bill himself and his Team.

Excellent choice of scenarios at the Depot in the Pacific Theater. I was quite impressed. Thanks Fox for advising me of this. I've downloaded a few of these and will look them over.

It motivates me to do the Japanese Cavalry campaign (small) about the 5th Mounted Recon Regiment (Cavalry) and its march through Thailand into Malaya.

And thanks AK! For the shout of encouragement!

Wild Bill, please make that Japanese campaign. Also fun, would be either the fighting in Burma against the British (most probably a fighting retreat unless the first battle is won and it can be a 'what-if' advancing campaign) or perhaps a fight in China, either from the Japanese perspective. I can help if needed with researching, unit placements or battle testing. [:)]

I wanna make a campaign too but I havent' looked into how to do it yet. I'm thinking for practice I might do a tiny one platoon type campaign of the marines defending Pearl Harbour from a Japanese invasion in early 1942. It would be small cause the Japanese weren't in position for it and only had the Wake Island invasion troops available I think and the US also were unprepared except for what few troops they can ferry over in the first couple months. Sorry, getting off-topic. [:o]

That might work. I did a large scenario on the Japanese invading Midway Islands. It was built on the premise that Yamamoto did not suffer such severe losses in his carrier force and continued with the invasion.

Either that, or the Japanese amphibious assault on Corregidor. I plan to do a campaign on Japanese Cavalry, 5th Mounted Regiment through Thailand and on into Malaya.

All sounds good.

ORIGINAL: Wild Bill

I did at least two back around v8. Alternate universe stuff called Japan vs Germany. Also Airfield Follies, in which the Japanese defend against an Anzac attack. There may be others.
Retreat is NOT an option.

There sure are a lot of good fights. I am having a good time trying on those Hurtgen forest scenarios now and battling the Germans having a great time shooting each other to bits. [:)]
