Hi all,

Rob - not planned as yet. I still have 3 x BB divisions sitting at Luganville but I want to keep smacking by air whilst I can. Today for example another 36 enemy planes were destroyed in the air and on the ground at Noumea for the loss of 1 Zero. A good ratio[8D]

Werner once more attacked Luganville with over 100 high level forts. Luckily enough Tojo's have been ferried to the island and an Oscar Daitai was upgraded today. Time for payback soon [8D]

------------------

The negative news was that SS I-3 tracking a convoy SW fronm the West Coast attacked and hit the loaded TK Warwick. As per norm the uber Allied ASW found the sub and sank it with the loss of all hands. Hopefully the loaded TK will succumb to it's fiery wounds.

------------------

Interestignly in China Werner has moved the 4 x Chinese Corps that begin on the crossroads north of Yenen SOUTH towards Yenen. Fine by me. I have a division there with 9 forts. The Mongol Cavalry divisions guarding against these Chinese are in pursuit. Also another Divisions worth of troops will be in Yenen within 10 days.

Hi all,

Werner has been busy all week so the war had been on hold.

Noumea received another smiting from Lugnaville today. He really seems to be struggling on getting fighters in numbers:

Day Air attack on Noumea , at 68,113

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 103
A6M3 Zero x 30
G3M Nell x 26
G4M1 Betty x 50
H8K Emily x 4

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 3
Spitfire Vb x 1
P-36A Mohawk x 3
P-400 Airacobra x 3
P-39D Airacobra x 6
P-40E Warhawk x 1

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 3 destroyed
Spitfire Vb: 1 destroyed
P-36A Mohawk: 6 destroyed
P-400 Airacobra: 4 destroyed
P-39D Airacobra: 5 destroyed
P-40E Warhawk: 3 destroyed
B-17E Fortress: 4 destroyed
B-26B Marauder: 2 destroyed
Beaufort V-IX: 1 destroyed
B-25C Mitchell: 2 destroyed
B-24D Liberator: 2 destroyed

Allied ground losses:
41 casualties reported
Vehicles lost 1

Airbase hits 7
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 48

Aircraft Attacking at 12000 feet

In total he lost 30 planes on the ground. 50 in total for the day vs my 16.

-------------

He retaliated against Lugnaville though. I can't wait until my Tojo's are active. I'll put an end to these high level 'nuclear' strikes:

Day Air attack on Luganville , at 72,107

Japanese aircraft
A6M3 Zero x 4
Ki-43-Ib Oscar x 9

Allied aircraft
PBY Catalina x 6
B-17E Fortress x 94

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M3 Zero: 1 destroyed
Ki-43-Ib Oscar: 4 damaged
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 1 destroyed
G4M1 Betty: 1 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 6 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
165 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

Airbase hits 3
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 4
Port fuel hits 1
Port supply hits 1

Aircraft bombing at 36600 feet

---------------

Same as in China - me attacking Kungchang again tomorrow. Stalemate at Kunming.

Same as in Burma - after my failed attack I don't seem to have the strength to push him back! 2 ARM Rgts will be there within 2 weeks. The 35th Bde is almost all airlifted into Akyab.

you not updated to patch 1.795 ? the ASW is way better

bizarre .. should have moved that turn 1 as a standard move . why i wonder did he leave them there of all places ?????

Noumea is getting plastered . im guessing he cant withdraw the fighters due to range. Kind of suprised the heavies are flying in such numbers though. his morale and ops losses must be bad from cratering etc. what are the ops losses for the heavies recently ?

"nuclear" LOL .. hardly .. if that was at 6K you'd get levelled . be thankful he's got scared

Looking good for you down there i must say. Keep up the good work !

No. We're sticking with 1.62 until the latest offical patch is released.

When Werner started this game it was his 1st WiTP PBEM = lot to learn [;)]

His op losses have been fairly low with his heavies. I just need to get my Tojo's up and running and then he's had it with regard to bombing Luganville.

As long a I can keep Noumea under air seige i'm happy. In time i'll use my BB's again. When KB has had some downtime in Japan + my IJA divisions are repaired and rested = we'll invade New Caledonia [:)]

Thanks for the clarification. Werners first game eh ? pood sod.

I dread to think how much my game has changed from 1st PBEM to taday and i still have a LOT to learn. Thats why i love this game so much. bit like chess . easy to learn tricky to master [:D]

Well apart from the easy to learn bit anyway [:D]

Hi Rob [8D]

Werner is busy in RL at the mo so turns are slower.

He does seem sooooo passive. He's not repsonding at all. I partly feel this is due to the fact that when he has reacted in the past he has lost e.g. Wake Island.

More of the same today. I bomb Noumea and net 20 planes on the ground.

Another sub lost but hopefully she'll take her victim with her:

Sub attack at 111,89

AAR over

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

Just to let you all know I won't be updating this AAR from now on.

I'm unhappy in the WiTP forum in general at the moment and recent events have led to a substantial decrease in desire to post here and as such update this AAR.

The game will continue so no worries there.

Maybe in time i'll feel like updating and posting more.

Many thanks to all those who have read and contributed. It's appreciated.

All the best,

Hi all,

Back from Turkey after having a fantastic time [:)]

The war continues in much the same vain. Whilst my divisions recuperate on Truk for the invasion of New Caledonia and KB makes it's way back to Japan for R & R (all ships between 4-15 SYS damage) Noumea is bombed from Luganville again:

Day Air attack on Noumea , at 68,113

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 122
A6M3 Zero x 34
G3M Nell x 27
G4M1 Betty x 48
H8K Emily x 5

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 2
Spitfire Vb x 3
P-39D Airacobra x 2

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 3 destroyed
Spitfire Vb: 3 destroyed
P-39D Airacobra: 2 destroyed
PBY Catalina: 1 destroyed
B-26B Marauder: 3 destroyed
P-36A Mohawk: 1 destroyed
P-400 Airacobra: 1 destroyed
B-25C Mitchell: 1 destroyed

Allied ground losses:
10 casualties reported

Airbase hits 1
Runway hits 18

Aircraft bombing at 15000 feet

------------

Status quo in Burma with my Dacca offensive stalled. Werner is not counter-attacking here as yet. Stalemate.

In China after the fall of Kungchang and Lanchow the north of China is in a fluid state with IJA units advancing south on Sian.

Hi all,

Werner is very busy with work at the mo so a slower pace of game has started.

A mixed day.

A successful sub attack by an I-Boat which had been tracking a convoy for 4 days. He also survived the escorts[X(]:

Sub attack at 116,84

Japanese Ships
SS I-26, hits 1

Allied Ships
TK Admiral Williams, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
AK Thomas Nelson
AK Wawa
SC SC-709
SC SC-708
SC SC-700
MSW Tern
DD Porter
DD Smith
DD Mahan

The fuel laden tanker should sink. See the screenshot below and you'll see where it took place and the fact that I-32 has been positioned further SW for a future intercept intercept position.

--------------

A failure over Burma. LBA escorted by Oscars from Mandalay attacked Allied troop lines opposite mine on the 'rail to Dacca'. Superior enemy fighters were on patrol and shot down 10 x Oscars and 14 x bombers. No more raids will occur until the Oscars have been upgraded to Tojo's and Tony's:

Day Air attack on 23rd Indian Division, at 31,25

Japanese aircraft
Ki-43-Ib Oscar x 16
Ki-21 Sally x 46
Ki-48 Lily x 26
Ki-46-II Dinah x 2

Allied aircraft
Hurricane II x 16
Spitfire Vb x 5

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-43-Ib Oscar: 10 destroyed
Ki-21 Sally: 4 destroyed, 2 damaged
Ki-48 Lily: 10 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
Hurricane II: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged
Spitfire Vb: 1 damaged

Allied ground losses:
39 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

-----------

No raids on Noumea due to LBA resting. KB still moves back to Japan for R & R. LCU's prepare and rest for the upcoming invasion of New Caledonia.

Hi all,

Werner has been busy with work so few turns.

Afraid nothing majorly new to report.

China - The usual air attacks by small number of bombers on IJA units at Kunming. Ground warfare is stalemate in the Centre and South. Advancing on Sian in the north.

Burma = no new air attacks. Ground stalemate on the rail to Dacca. 35th Brigade marching from Akyab to reinforce the position. 2nd ARM Rgt should reach the batteline tomorrow to lend armoured support.

South Pacific - no new attacks. Awaiting the return of KB and LCU's prepped for the invasion of New Caledonia.

A couple of minor empty bases taken by me - Padang on Western Sumatra and Woodlark Island near New Guinea.
