Unit purchase system

A brand new campaign-based 3D tactical engine covering combat in World War II, from the developers at Koios Works. The first operation covered is the famous "Wintergewitter" or Winter Storm, a desperate attempt by Hoth's 57th Panzer Korps to break through to the encircled 6th Armee at Stalingrad and the Soviet counter-attack by 2nd Guards Army that drove them back.

Unit purchase system

How does this work? It seems there are a list of individual unit types available. Any choices that are closer to "Soviet Rifle Battalion c.42" that would keep the force mix closer to period OOB's?

I don't entirely understand your question :) At this time, however, each scenario has a "pool" of units that are based on the time period your battle is being fought.

You can decide to bring more infantry with transports or more tanks, but there aren't enough units in the pool to just go "Hey, I want to bring in ALL infantry and artillery with no tanks at all." Your decisions are limited by how many points you get to spend and what is available in your pool.

This is all subject to change of course, but that is how it is set up currently. You definately have to make some decisions with this system... bigger heavier tanks, cheaper more numerous tanks, artillery/indirect fire units, various types of infantry... how many of each? In some scenarios I have seen you able to bring in a lot of big heavy german Panzers. The upside of which is your tanks have a great advantage over the crappy Soviet units... the disadvantage is four well placed AT artillery shots will render your expensive units very dead... and you'll find yourself without the sheer NUMBERS to capture enough objectives to achive victory.

So... I hope that helps :)

There are no pre-set "formations" like in CM, where you can buy a battalion. However, during the campaign a historical group is your core force and the selections you have to choose from are historical in terms of their availability. You purchase platoons rather than larger formations, in general.

Gotcha, thanks. It will be easy enough with the system as is to build historical or otherwise.
