RE: Another bloody ambush!
I've been busy for some days and could not post.
Few important things have happened.
AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/22/42
Ok, Petropavlosk has fallen easily. He landed 25 units for a gran total of 30,000 men...too much for my poor, lone russian naval base force!
However, the cd guns this time managed to hit some APs and cause some problems...
however, now he has a good base in the North and there's no way i can move in Russia anymore planes from the US.
In China things are deploying very well. We're almost ready to attack Nanchang. Tomorrow we'll bomb the place and take a look at what he has. 150,000 chinese should be enough i hope...let's see.
But i won another battle in China: near Yenen, he moved 2 divisions supported by 2 regiments towards my positions that defends the eastern flank of Sian. He attacked two times, lost 5000 men and stop thinking about that[8D]
In Burma nothing changed except for the fact that he moved some units to Reaghen in order to keep the retreat door for his 15th Army open. His situation looks grim here, but the jungle is stopping my advance too!
Near Port Blair there has been the baptism of fire for my seafire: betties escorted by zeros attacked a TF near Adaman Island. We lost 2 MLs, 1 seafire and 2 Hurricanes, shooting down some 8 zeros!
In Russia he finally moved 10 units into Vladivostok and some more 15 units to the hills north east of my capital. now he has 500,000 men there! Let's see if my rusky can hold the ground again!

The battle for Vladivostok!
AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/25/42
While July is getting over, the land battles in Russia are becoming more bloody and more decisive.
For the second time, today, the Japanese Army assaulted my positions on the hills NE of Vladivostok, while 80,000 jap men are holding my garrison at Vlad. For the second time he got repulsed with HUGE losses![:D]
It's incredible how good can be these Ivans! I really did not expect such a good result!
Now he's in deep troubles...His supply lines in Manchuria are costantly hit by my bombers, and day by day, the HI, RES centers etc in Manchuria gets annihilated...His supply situation should look very grimm by now.
In China we've reached again a Statlemate. At Nanchang he has 100,000 men now...and i cannot hope to break his lines with only 3000 APs.... But at least i've stopped the supply production of Nanchang[:D]
In Burma everything is stuck in the jungle...[:(]
His KB is now moving from Petropavlosvk...Eastwards! All my naval units have been ordered to get back to Seattle at full speed.
The Australian have managed to estabilish a strong bridgehead at Lautem(Timor). Now we have 2 bridages there and some 120 AV supports. With 3 squadrons of fighters and some 155mm Arty pieces, the base should be a bit safer now[;)]. 3 Divisions are ready to get ashore as soon as the base expands a bit.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at 66,32
Japanese Deliberate attack
Attacking force 565215 troops, 5452 guns, 1202 vehicles
Defending force 145006 troops, 1793 guns, 311 vehicles
Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1
Japanese ground losses:
20838 casualties reported
Guns lost 642
Vehicles lost 96
Allied ground losses:
1977 casualties reported
Guns lost 154
Vehicles lost 3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Vladivostok
Allied Bombardment attack
Attacking force 117375 troops, 1278 guns, 271 vehicles
Defending force 85371 troops, 827 guns, 10 vehicles
Japanese ground losses:
173 casualties reported
Guns lost 5

RE: The battle for Vladivostok!
AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/27/42
Nothing special happened.
KB is sailing southwards. Direction Saipan!
Burma and China are now stable, more or less. None of us has the power for pushing any forward. Statlemate.
I've seen the thread Hawker made on the pubblic forum about the lost victory in the hills north of Vladivostok...
i gotta say that i'm not surprised at all about the result. Land combat in witp must be understood, but once you've got it, it's pretty predictable.
my units are well experienced ( between 70 and 80) fully supplied, fortified ( between 4 and 5) and well supported by the HQs. My supply lines are shorter and my bombers keep on hitting his troops and his communication lines.
I've learnt the hard way in China that the Japs need to be very carefull....numbers do not guarantee any victory.
Now AmiralLaurent suggested Haweker to shift his forces. I gotta say that it's probably too late. I can follow with my recon planes every movement he makes and the Transsiberian railine allows me to move faster.
Harbin is now completely annihilated. The industry there no longer exists.
More bombers are flowing into Russia and soon we'll be able to bomb Japan homeland.
The fighter force in Russia grows stronger every day. 500 fighters are in line at the moment. a lot of them can fight at equal arms against his zeros. Spitfires, mig-3 and Kittihawks can hold the line pretty well.
Russian campaign is far from being won, but the future looks absolutely better right now.
The australian have estabilished a good bridgehead at Lauterm(Timor). Soon, very soon, we'll start to bomb his precious DEI.
Marines are a bit late, but they're also ready to move in in the Pacific.
The Brits have taken back souther Burma and now are rearganizing themself.
My CVs look good. I'm ready to send in 6 Major CVs, supported by 1 CVL and 1 CVE.
Score is 2-1 in his favor 20000 to 10000.

RE: The battle for Vladivostok!
Was wondering about the following:
your supply situation in Russia?
# of Brit pilot replacements?
p-40 replacements?
Really curious about the first. Never seem to have enough of #s 2 and 3.

RE: The battle for Vladivostok!
Hi, very tough time. I'm changing house again:-(
This time i'll be forced to stay without a connection for nearly one month:-(
Sorry for this delay-_-''
Anyway, war goes on, even if slowed down.
AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/29/42
Nothing happened today.
In russia i managed to obtain a kind of statlemate. Now the ball is again on his side. He has to reorganize and try something else. I'm forming a new reserve Army at Imam, with the idea to cover my flanks if i notice any concentration of troops behind his lines.
Supply situation in Russia is acceptable. Every unit is well supplied and only few bases are in organge state.
The Brit pool has 39 pilots left, while i have almost 50 P-40Es and more than 100 Kittyhawks. not bad i'd say
The 4th Marine Rgt, after the battles at Manila and Sosarbaja, is now at full strenght and is ready to come into action again!! With the other units of the Corp will be thrown into action very soon!!

RE: The battle for Vladivostok!
I was trying to activate the Soviet Union for the mod I was working on but couldn't get the Japanese a/c to attack anything in the Soviet Union. The Soviet a/c attacked Manchuria. I just couldn't get things to go the other way around. Are the Japanese a/c attacking anything in the SU in this game?
RE: The battle for Vladivostok!
Good to see you back General!
And congrats for the cup... Even if this Materazzi is the worst F***** in the world, even before Cristiano Ronaldo.
Still we don't know why Zidane hit him in the chest instead of the head... This would have been useful for a change [8|]

Yes, if you read the last 2 pages you'll see how Hawker's planes are devastating my russian AFs...but the Ivans are fighting back, with some precious help of the Americans and Brits.
Anyway guys, really hope Hawker will join me back...it will be a pity to lose this exiting game

RE: The battle for Vladivostok!
I'd suggest taunting him or verbal abuse but that didn't bring back Luskan either.
RE: The battle for Vladivostok!
Perhaps if he can't continue, you could ask him to hand over the game to someone else. There is just too amny games that end in '42...

RE: The battle for Vladivostok!
I think Hawker has had a lot of happenings IRL. Newborn baby, etc.
Hopefully, you can get this one going again. I had to find a replacement since the turns were not going in regularly.
Good luck.
