Is there a guide on how to play this game?

The gameplay looks exactly like the gameplay in Pacific Theatre of Operations and Operation Europe that are from SNES:D

Ummm... me too. Downloaded it last night, found "Rich's Pacific War" webpage, but it still seems like this game's learning curve is a bit steep for just clicking around.

So... if anyone knows of a way to get the manual in .pdf or .doc, I'd appreciate it.

Hi LST I can't believe matrix lets you get away with that signature graphic!!!

Thanks for putting the files in one gathering. I can't remember exactly why I didn't like version 3& up or even v2.3 - so I keep v2.2 around. When I see the tales of the sinking of 12 allied CVs etc., I have come to the colclusion that v3 OB and .EXE changes have gone way too far. Maybe these files here will help me remember. It's been so long since I played it, I'll have to re-read the rules.

Here's a quick question, do the TFs move in numerical order, i.e., TF 50 moves before TF51, etc. That would make it important to make all air combat TFs with the lowest numbers then surface combat next, etc transport TFs last (highest numbers) right???

And yes, I still have the 1968 DeVille convertible in the avatar graphic.

I'm pretty sure TF movement is not always by lowest TF number. (My guess is that the program randomly decides whether to move the highest or the lowest TF's first.) However, I believe that lower number TF's do get the leftover Preparation Points after the HQ has assigned the minimums to each TF. Therefore, it's a good idea to make your Air Combat TF's the lowest numbered ones.

In addition to the manual and hints, there was also a "Data Card", with the last-minute errata and extra rules. Matrix included an electronic version of this in the Version 3.1 patch, but left it out in the 3.2 version. (I have no clue as to why.) Anyway, since it's now very hard to come by, I thought I would re-post the text file version. Note that some of the information, such as aircraft stats, is now obsolete. The Vicory Point information is still valid to the best of my knowledge.

On your web site, the Rich Dionne's Pacific War Page link no longer takes us anywhere. Nor have I found anything that can lead me to an explanation of the revised rules for using the newer version of Pacific War. If I even knew how to break up task forces, I think I could proceed.

Btw, I'm not sure if anyone can use this, but I do have the original box and manual still, along with - can you believe it - an intact and (probably) working version of it on a 5-1/4" floppy. Does that take you back?
