no such thing as a stupid question....unless its Speedy asking the question....[:D]

Yes, you can use Andrew's map though the scenario must be converted. Andrew has done this at his website for Scen 40 (Grand campaign, 12/7 start)

Art -

You can use stock art. Should be no problem as the mod changed the bitmap pointer for the changed planes. (Actually, the Albacore points to the swordfish bitmap since stock doesn't have one. Sea Hurricane points to the Hurricane bitmap.) You can even get away with Elf's CHS planetops though there would be an error here or there. Ian also created a stock planetop file which i believe you can get at Spooky's site.

thanks for the fast reply Nik I was reading your AAR secs ago and really LMAO. That s the spirit !!! But i m really impressed how this improved the game.
So if i got it right:
I can use Andrews map --> hence the converted scenario is # 140
You mentionned "Ian"s planetop file. I m kinda lost [&:] is Ian aka Elf or someone else ?

One last question is there a thread explaining how the game points to a specific plane art on planesides tops and alfa files. I have not been able to find one so far ... if there is one andI wouldn t mind designing a new one with the best art available out there

the pointer is in the aircraft database. each image has a number that is indicated on one of the pages of the plane's database (don't remember which as I don't have it with me right now).
So much WitP and so little time to play.... :-(

"Ian" handle - "TheElf" creater of several plane art mods for both CHS mod and the stock scenario. Check out Spooky's site. should all be there.

As Pascal explained, each aircraft 'device' in the database editor has a pointer to a location on the plane art file. Its in the upper right corner and says "Bitmap" on editor. The value located there is the pointer value.

If you using stock ART, you won't have to worry about it. Dont think you have to worry with the CHS art either as the swordfish bitmap location is the same as stock IIRC.

By chance is anyone working on any additional scenarios for this mod with Andrew's 5.1 Map?

It would be great to have a Dec. 8, 1941-1946 scenario for Nik Mod 5.02 along with a few others.

However, I'm guessing this is a lot of work for whoever endeavors?

Allied production rates were scrubbed downward to tone down the power of PDU's and also to compensate for the decreased incidence of plane destruction in A2A combat. I closely followed the debates revolving around P-38 production and the issue of mass squadron swap out as described by Brady.

I would have done the same for Japan save that their production is governed by the in-game production model. However that can be compensated for somewhat by not fiddling too much with it. The new model is not set in stone. I'm interested in feedback from Allied players in regards to plane type availabilities. If it turns out i toned down some of the early/mid-period production rates too much, creating too few replacements, I will adjust accordingly.

Nik: Do you plan to split those large FG/BG units to squadrons like in CHS ? I find them bit clunky and I try to avoid splitting units in any WitP scenario to not to give infamous leader bug any extra chances... Maybe I'm just jaded by playing CHS...[:'(]

No plans at this time to split up FG/BG's into component squadrons.
