Multiple Shield Arcs

Post by Furyofaseraph »

Hey, Yet another question ^_^.

Would it be possible to create more than one shield system, lets say 6, and model each shield differently, so that each shield model only protected certain arcs: Bow, Aft, Port, Starboard, Ventral, Dorsal, and thus being able to give each one different strengths?
Also, does the Shield model indicate what is protected? meaning if i just built a disk that covers the front as the shield model, could you shoot around it?

to answer your questions quickly yes to the first no to the second. Also in each system def you canb specify how much to shield protacts that system.

for example, lets say you set the fusion reactor to .7 . the shields will absorb 70% of the damage when that systen is targeted directly. you can also set how much damage the shields absorb overall. But, as I stated earlier multi-shileds systems are not supported.

You can build a shield that only covers a portion of your ship. However, the def file only allows one mag file for the shield. So you can shoot around it. The question is, why you ever make something like that?

Well, my idea was multiple shield mags, one for each arc, and thus seperating them, but meh, why bother.

As far as shooting around them? think Honorverse. ^_^
