Hi, OK well PI creates 600 supply how much would you have it produce? (There are 5 bases 4x125 and 1x100) It would have been nice if you had tracked how this 600 points allowed you to feed the troops and build forts and fly air ops and still have a surplus.

Sorry, but it has been determined that it is 1.25 resources to 1.0 supply.
The small amount of supply in the PI is basically enough to view as emergency rations. Why do you keep referring to these small little centres (junior high pot dealers) when I'm using Tarakan, Balikpapan and Kendari (Columbian drug lords producing bails of cocaine) to supply Manila as my examples? I was shipping in supply by sea and by air from these centres. These centres were raw materiel producers, not manufacturing centres for the goods of war, yet they sufficed nicely. It is these supply/resource cornucopias which are causing the problem, and are doing so because supply is tied to resources at 1:1.25.
Oh, and the range has everything to do with it as well. This supply is well within a weeks sailing of Singapore, Manila, whatever. These ships can do shuttle runs carrying supply from these close bases and get the same bang that historically ships had to sail halfway around the world for.

Seeing as Merak was too tough a nut to crack at this point, Bill diverted to Sumatra. This was expensive anyway as ship after ship pays the ultimate price for lack of air superiority. In case anyone thinks using the FAA torpedoe bombers is gamey, there is an entire RN base force at Batavia, as well as an RAF base force at Bandoeng and Madioen.

Another attempt at Tarakan is unfolding to air surveillance.
The FAA gets one more crack at the retiring Java invasion fleet and makes up for their earlier iffy performance with what I'd call uncanny accuracy (but, attacking merchants and cripples must be easier than trying to hit Kongos at full steam).
The Dutch subs have taken over where the RN subs left off.
Another large TF of APs is seen unloading at Koumac...without control of the sea any further commitment of troop reinforcements to Noumea is foolhardy. Not sure if I can hold Noumea, unless I commit the refitted Sara and Lex, Wasp and maybe the RN CVs operating off the DEI. Personally I'drather keep the CVs seperate so I have carrier superiority in any two theatres out of three.

Ground combat at Hankow Bill has obliged me and is trying to give these wayward Chinese a boost back to where they came from...Ichang (these are part of the army which headed through enemy positions in an eastern direction when ordered to Chungking, a western direction. Unfortunately, the zones of control work if attacked so these troops a screwed. Bill was even going to evacuate Hangkow and Ichang to allow the unit to escape but of course, his units won't move either.[8|] Thank gawd for the new dev plans.[8D]

I hope so but there are so many merchants in the game and so little need for them to do anything but participate in offensive actions that I think the losses are merely an inconvenience at this point.

Now would I do something like that? [X(] After I did not attack the Chinese troops that tried to give up. [:D]
Did not think you would.[&o] Too much of a gent. This game and all its' bugs has forced alot of honourable play and missed opportunities. The bug causing the loss of all fighters in NZ sort of takes any raid away from you. Not that those CVs are still in NZ anyway as not too much flood damage was caused by the bomb hits.

Hi, Anyone who thinks the Allies can maintain Manila or Singapore (or even Java) with supply from Borneo or Toboali is beyond my abilty to convince other wise.
What we need to do is play a game where the Japanese supply is tracked and 1 house rule will be no Japanese airgroup can take replacement aircraft at any base other then bases belonging to Japan at start and only when supply from Home Islands has been unloaded. No supply from any DEI base can be loaded by Japan for transfer prior to the entire DEI being occupied.
This would demonstrate several things that are at the core of my disputing the supply being the problem.
1. The pace of Japanese operations would not slow
2. The Allied player while being free to attempt movement of supply would be unable to maintain his forces inside SRA with supply produced there. (Borneo and Toboali supply would just sit unused or the effort would only produce a loss of allied transports attempting to move it)
Since this supply would have no impact on operations it is a waste of time to worry about it. No one can say what the Japanese are going to get. (I've posted many games where the DEI produces no supply or resources or oil after capture by Japan so it is clearly in these games not present in excessive amounts. )
Conversion of oil and resources at heavy industry produces 1.25 supply. Resource centers generate 1 supply per point and 6 resources per point.
My entire argument is it is not how much is produced and it is far better to produce too much then it would be to produce to little. What is important is the abilty to transport supply. If I can move supply from Osaka to Kendari then Kendari can be used for operations at my leisure. If I can't transport supply from Osaka to kendari then I also will be unable to transport supply from kendari to any usefull point. It is too easy to damage production if a base is within air range to worry about how much it might produce at 100 percent out put. It is totally pointless to worry about it if it can't be moved. It can't be used for replacements unless it is also in range of HQ And so on. The Allied players task in WITP is to halt movement of supply/resource/oil/fuel where ever it is created or converted or consumed. It should be the efforts of the Allied player that produce this halt not a pre game reduction. The DEI was a supply/resource rich area. It supported a large population before during and after the war without imports from outside. The DEI has since early in it's history been an exporter of goods not an importer.
