-B-17´s dared to attack Rabaul at daylight, but the morale of their crews is at such low levels that all the planes involved aborted their bombing runs when they saw our Zeroes. No B-17´s were shot down but at least 5 enemy airmen were captured as they panicked and bailed out, thinking that their plane was being shot down[:D]

The dispicable Japanese didn't even grant him a last request.....like a Pizza slice.

-However, he was offered sushi, sashimi and sake...Japan is short on pizza due to the unrestricted submarine warfare agaisnt our civilian ships

All crewman returned safely though several had their pinkys shot off from all the freaking bullets. There is a small morale problem however. A unsigned note in shaky handwriting was slipped under the tent flap of the 19th BG's CO demanding "a fighter escort to protect us from the "useless and pathetic" Japanse light bombers we were told to ignore."

The handwriting was poor either because the men are tired or because its hard to write with no pinky.

Another round of attacks on Mandalay gave mixed results. The inferior enemy fighters were badly beaten in the air, but the B-25´s destroyed more 9 fighters in the ground, resulting in about 16 losses to each side. Only one B-25 was shot down, but much more were damaged. Fortunately, losses for Japanese pilots were insignificant, while our resorts gained at least 15 new VIP guests[:D] (fighter pilots). I hope they will enjoy the sushi and sake we are giving to them.

USAAF sources admited that the combat debut of one of their new FG's did not go as well as had been hoped. Japanese fighters were reported to have defended the base with great skill and tenacity however on a brighter note, the B-25's being escorted weathered the attacks well, only one being lost on the way back after having an engine shot out by an Army type 0. The crew were safely extracted.

Though only one plane was lost, many bombers were damaged requiring servicing. Morale also continues to take a beating from the slashing enemy fighter attacks. Flak over Mandalay continues to be reported as negligable.

-No attacks on Mandalay in the last two days, as both sides are recovering from heavy losses and resting their crews. The growing threat of the enemy bombers prompted the Japanese production ministry to switch one factory from the almost useless Ki-51 to the new Ki-44 interceptor, however, there has been lots of complaints about the relatively poor maneuverablity of the new plane. Conversion of squadrons is scheduled to start in one month. The production of the Ki-43 I, however, will be continued, as the plane is considered a superior aircraft to face enemy fighters, like the P-40 and the P-39, not to mention the pathetic Hurricane[:D]

Enemy bombers shifted their targets to resource areas in Rangoon and Canton, however, they paid a heavy price for the relative success they obtained. At the cost of 3 Oscars, the Japanese air defenses destroyed 7 P-40´s, 4 I-16´s and 3 SB-2´s. No B-25 was lost but only because their scared aircrews dropped the bombs out of target area in order to flee from the Oscars. No Japanese crew was lost, but our resorts in Malaysia are being enlarged to receive more new guests in the next months.

-The allied strategic bombing campaign goes on. Now it was time of Hanoi. Despite the lack of fighters covering the base, the Chinese lost 3 Il-4´s in two days. The US Navy bombarded Tulagi with light surface units. One destroyer was located and sunk by one of our I boats.

Probing attacks continue in the CBI theater. Flight reports indicate strong fighter defenses at both Rangoon and Mandalay, causing difficulties in the successful implementation of mission objectives. Fortunately losses have been somewhat light as the enemy has only succcessfully accounted for one B-25. However morale continues to be an issue due to the determined nature of the enemy fighter attacks leaking through the escort screen. Flak continues to be reported as negligable. 10th Air Force recommends additional fighter escorts however in lieu of other theater priorities this will probably not be achieved for some time unless other areas in the CBI are denuded in order to stregthen the bastion established at Akyab.

As of this time there continues to be no indication of enemy intentions in any theater. This is puzzling despite the admitted setback suffered by the USN recently in the 2nd battle of the Coral Sea. Defensive build ups continue in the wake of the vacuum created in Japanese offensive operations.

-The enemy air campaign against Rangoon goes on. In the last two days, attacks inflicted significant damage to resource areas. Again, the enemy suffered relatively heavy losses. Escorting P-40´s were again, badly beaten by Ki-43´s, but only three bombers were shot down. Overall, the enemy lost 12 planes against 4 Oscars. The Malaysia resort administration warned the IJAAF that, at the current rate, there won´t be room for new guests in one or two months, there is already a slight decline in the sushi rations for our pri..., I mean, guests.

-The allies renewed their strategic offensive against Rangoon and also started to attack Japanese ships from the newly acquired Nanning airport. Losses were high for both sides. The enemy lost 15 P-40´s, while we had 2 Zeroes and 13 Oscars shot down. The loss of bombers increases the overall losses to 21 (allies) vs 17 (Japan). On the other hand, the allies lost more pilots while the resources at Rangoon were heavily hit.
-A small note from the Japanese HQ at Hanoi notices that despite the AVG had lost 5 planes over Haiphong, no pilots were captured. There are rumors that Vietnamese Bolsheviks (the so called NFL) are helping the enemy mercenaries to get back to their lines. This alliance won´t last for much time[:D]

-In the worst day for the IJAAF, since the campaign began, Oscars in Rangoon were decimated by P-40E´s. No less than 12 Oscars traded for 2 P-40´s. Even worse, 7 Oscar pilots were killed or seriously wounded. Fortunately, the Oscars were helped by the Yamada Daitai, which was sent to Rangoon two days ago. The Zero guys shot down 13 P-40´s, losing two of their planes. Ten enemy pilots were captured and another two were found dead in the wrecks of their planes.

-Colonialist air forces were badly beaten after the Ki-43´s were retreated from Rangoon and replaced by a second Zero Daitai. Intel confirmated that the 51FG, already badly hit by previous combat, was slaughtered virtually to the last man, and will likely be retreated from the frontlines. At least 19 P-40´s from 51FG were shot down and 15 pilots captured. Only three Zeroes and one pilot were lost. Meanwhile, the AVG also appeared over Haiphong and suffered some losses. Ten P-40B´s, 2 Zeroes and 4 Oscars were shot down. The enemy also lost 3 B-25´s (one over Lae) and one Il-4. Overall losses: 35:10. Damage to Rangoon Oil instalations was insignificant. The IJNAF pilots are pretty enthusiastic about the new A6M3, which is considered better fitted for a defensive war.

USAAF forces admitted to heavy casualties in the 51st FG though once again the bombers were safely protected and the bombing mission on the refinaries located in the Rangoon area were signifigantly damaged. 13 P40's were lost over Rangoon while defending the bombers, cannon armed Type 0 aircraft bouncing the formations which were flying at medium altitude. 3 more P40's force landed while on the way back to Akyab while 1 more crash landed back at the airfield. 2 more P40's were written off immediately after landing. Returning pilots submitted claims for 25 enemy Type 0's downed.

-Japanese intel estimates that the enemy forces lost almost every P-40 in the CBI theatre, as they started again to use I-16´s and SB-2´s against Cantoon. The Japanese Ki-43´s in the area got some kills (4 I-16´s and 2 SB-2´s), a boost to morale and some extra experience.

....or something like that is what Yamamoto said when he knew the results of the second round of surface operations against Port Moresby. Not only the pathetic PT boast were able to damage two DD´s with only one PT being sunk, but the BB guns achieved virtually nothing. Only 2 P-40´s and 2-B-25´s were destroyed and the airfield was able to launch another attack against convoys heading for Lae, damaging one AK and sinking a PC. In Burma, the enemy switched targets to Mandalay. 30 Oscars faced 20 P-40´s and shot down one of them withouth losses (pilot bot captured, his plane was able to return but was considered beyond repair). A B-15 and a Hudson were shot down by the non existant flak in Mandalay
