"Unofficial" mystery ships - Answers Posted!

Post by Feinder »

Well, these were some I want to post (I'm thinking they'll be tough for you). But they're -NOT- in the stock OB of WitP.

I think I'll add a section to the Mystery List, with "unoffical" ones (not in the OB). But I thought these were cool, so here goes:

I can't answer...I have an insider source. Can I give a hint? Bill (Adm Halsey) is going to run into one of these soon if he is not careful.

Tell you what. Wait until mid-day Monday for hints. A lot of folks don't frequent the boards on the weekends, so we'll give them a chance to answer first (if they last that long).

Good guess Fremen. 26u is a Basset class of the Indian Navy, but it's not "Lucknow". (reminder for future guesses that these ships are -not- in the OB for WitP, just as Lucknow is not).

Hint #2 - They are both from the Indian Navy.

and I have contrary organizational suggestion: post them at different hours, so everybody have equal fun (not only those who live in certain time zones)

I rather agree with the suggestion to vary the posting times since, due largely to the mind-blowing expertise of the board denizens, that these things are often answered in a matter of minutes.

However, the posting times usually conicide with when my schedule has opportunity (is slow) at the office, which is later afternoon EST. When I'm at home, I'm not on the boards as often (working on turns!). But I will try to occasionally post a few of these during off-hours, for everyone to get a chance at them.

Glad that y'all are enjoying them.

Now identify the d_mn ships!

Well, I think I've finally managed to stump y'all.

25u - The gunboat HMIS Hindustan

26u - The minesweeper Poona. I'm going to give credit to Fremen for getting the Basset class, for lack of the exactly correct answer.

Lemme see if I can dig up one within the OB before I check out for the day.
