TokyoBoy: I challenge thee....

Post by Einar Fridgeirs »

To be my first ever PBEM opponent. I want to experience the glory that are Haigh tactics. I will use Guderian tactics myself. I know you´ve had some problems with PBEM games, but if you can straighten out whatever the problem is consider the gauntlet thrown down.

I am willing to pick any period after 1941, and although I have the most experience playing US Army, I´m willing to consider just about any nation.

While interviewing an anonymous US SF soldier, a Reuters News agent asked the soldier what he felt when sniping members of Al Quaeda in Afghanistan.
The soldier shrugged and replied, "Recoil."

I guess he wanted to be sure you saw it since you had so much trouble finding opponents early on. Nobody likes to be left out. [;)] Hope you guys have a good battle.

So, is this gonna happen? Let me pull up a chair and grab some pretzels and a few cold beers. When does the show start? [;)]

The offer is on the table, but as I said, I can totally understand if TBT declines due to PBEM troubles.

I just need an answer, and if it is negative, no hard feelings and we can let this thread die.....

I'm gonna use a quote from another Haig supporter in another thread here:

DIE!! DIE!! DIE!! Me wants to be seeing lots of DIE!! DIE!! DIE!!
Flame on. (cough, cough) Game on![8D]
[;)]

So what's it gonna be, TokyoBoy? Do you have too many PBEM's on the plate now? Einar has been more than patient and deserves a response. Please give him one.

I don't see a response from Einar about why this is posted in the main forum instead of in the opponents wanted forum or handle it by PM like everyone else does.

I´m sorry, I´ll repost this in the opponent wanted forum, there is no real reason for it being here other than I did it on a whim and didn´t realize there was a special forum for this type of thing[:(]

Anyways, if you feel you can´t play no worries, I just felt that since we play a wargame it would be cooler to have a clash of arms rather than a war of words [;)]

P.s I have never played vs a human opponent nor done a PBEM game of any kind, so I might be setting myself up for an ass-whooping. As flawed as TbT´s gaming strategies are, I sincerely hope he´s a tougher opponent than the AI!

Sheesh, TokyoBoy, quit dodging the question and answer him! Why are you making him jump through hoops to play you? If you don't want to play him, just say so.

Yes, it is true that there's a special forum 'Opponents wanted.' But it is not a crime to ask the opponent in some other part of these forums.

Hey guys, mind the 'cultural aspect' in the discussion.

??? Please elaborate. What cultural aspect?

And it´s time for me to start an unofficial poll so I´ll know what to expect: Which tactics are more dangerous. Haigh Tactics or AI Tactics? [:D]

The cultural aspect that some are more 'formal' than the others, ever if it's not 'economic'.

Wanna more diplomacy?

Interesting take, Puukkoo. I would not have thought that TokyoBoy's insistence was a cultural issue. Formality in the conduct of war could be an explanation, I suppose. The Samurai code of honor and all that. If that is the case, TokyoBoy, then I do apologize for my questioning your lack of a response, and I hope Einar will consider posting to the "Opponents Wanted" forum in order to assuage TokyoBoy's sense of honor.

no problem, I just assumed that someone with as flippiant a posting and gaming style as TbT would not be big on formalities and could recognize a light-hearted calling out when he saw one. I´ll go and post there now.

Hey guys, mind the 'cultural aspect' in the discussion.

You are very right, Pasi. That is something all should understand. And it works to both ends: A has to understand B's cultural difference, but also B has to understand A's cultural difference. That's something we all have to understand when we are in internationally used forums. When something remains unclear, it's mostly recommended to ask directly.

And with the 'cultural aspect' there comes the 'personal aspect', naturally. We react differently to different things although many share the same cultural background (US, CAN, GBR, FIN etc).

Both aspects need understanding and being careful of what you write. That is something everyone needs to understand.

Let's all try to calm down.

Fosters and vegemite hardly count as "culture." [:D]
