CHS ETA ???

Post by Bliztk »

Ok, I don´t want to you rush things

I`m planning to start two new games, and I want to know when CHS will be avaliable.

Not an exact date, because I know how this things work, you know an estimation of the end of the discussions[>:] and the avaliability of a brand new shining CHS 1.07 [&o][&o]

It is still most definitely several weeks away.

I'd love to help with a "no-respawn" CHS but I'm not too fond of the editor as I have lots of bite marks from using it. There is just so many "little things" I don't know about.

Be patient and wait for the new CHS as well as v1.8...

I had expected CHS to release about now. I was told about the first of this month, so I set my goal for four weeks later - and I am not yet clearly behind schedule. Many of the CHS files are released for testing and comment inside the team - and I had no idea it was still "weeks" away. RHS is based on CHS - actually the unreleased CHS - so they are pretty similar - and share much of the hard work of volunteers (e.g. Joe on Japanese land combat units) for this round of CHS. Since Andrew does not wish RHS to appear first, I will use any extra time to conduct tests and possibly add features. For example, in the last 24 hours it has become apparent we can change some map art to better reflect the data changes underneith it (e.g. there are many mountains in SE China, and it would be nice to be able to see them). I am picking up about one volunteer a day, so the scale of data review is expanding rapidly. But I won't turn down volunteers - if you want to check data - research some OB or other - test - we can use you. We do seem to have a lot of help with art - but as I said I don't turn down volunteers. It looks like we will be able to review all ship armor, for example. We have completed aircraft and now are reviewing air units for the allies - there appear to be missing units. We also have some fine work by Alaskan Warrior on US land units - and someone needs to review it and integrate it with our location file and devices. I promised to do it - but if someone wanted to - it would be done faster. I have a similar set of Soviet units from Cobra - and someone needs to review it too.

CHS is delayed again as I am waiting to see whether there has been any progress with the Soviet OOB revisions. I think I may have to release it as is, though, and maybe add those in later, once they are ready, since it is so much behind schedule.

I only play against the AI, so the selfish part of me says release it. The Soviet OOB means less in an AI game....<Shameless Plug>....and those of us who play against the AI could playtest it for you????

Thank you for the great work.

The Soviet OOB is moving along, albeit slowly. We want to make it a comprehensive addition and not wanting for anything. The Soviet Far east is lacking in accurate sources, and the job is further complicated by the lack of database slots. As soon as the Soviet team can agree on a few compromises the data entry will accelerate.

Not a bad idea... might spot some potential problems early.

OK, who is responsible for letting AB go on vacation? [&:][:-] We want to know, the most important thing in any project is to assign blame. [X(][:D]
