Units you think Should be added to the CS OObs

Post by Nebfer »

I think most of us Here know that the OOBs In East & West Front are filled with errors (like the US infantry battalions having 50 cal HMG pltns in 44 when thy shuldn't or the Finnish companys only having 1 ptln?).

thy also don't inclued certin units. (like where are the Panzer Brigades? or the Panzer HHQ Companys? -thy have the US & UK ones but not the german ones?)
Example: heres what the Panzer HHC contaned.
a Comunications Platoon (equiped with 3-5 Tanks)
a Reconnaissance Platoon (3-5 Tanks - Ie Pz IIF)
a Scout and Pioneer Platoon (4 Scout sections & 3 Pioneer sections -apx 55 men in all)
a SP Anti-aircraft Platoon (equiped with 3 Quad 20mm Guns mounted on half-tracks)

well apart from the OOB problems there are still a few units that are missing, and should be added.

German units
Late war Heer & SS "Sturm" Platoons (infantry units equiped with the STG-44 Assault Rifle)
Late War Calvery Platoons (its amusing to use these guys in late war with them faceing IS-2s...)
Late War Bicycle Platoons (see above)
Late war Motercycle Platoons (see above)
More MG platoon sizes Ie insted of just a 4 "HP" unit there shuld be a 2 and 6 "HP" unit.
Sd.Kfz 251/20 (night combat any one? -would iluminate an 4-6 hex area at night.)
Sd.Kfz 251/21 (the AA unit with 3x 20mm)
schwimmwagens -amfib infantry Transport.
the "E" serises of vehicules (for use in what if senerios like if thy held on till 46?)
Give german fire saport vehicules Better AT values (ie the PSW 234/3 has a low AT value when the Pz IIIN has the same gun with a much higer AT value - due to Heat rounds wich one would think the 234/3 would have...) these inclued the Sd.Kfz 251/9, PSW 233 & 234/3.

Soviet units
Navle infantry
T-34/57 (this was armed with a high valosity 57mm)
Kosmolits artilery tracter
IS-1

any other units?

In addition to other units I hope they also vary the units in a formation.
For example if you are doing a 1944 random campaign and choose an SS armor division you will always get the same units and they will all be at full strength! A little variety in this would go a long way IMO.

Refer to the wish list. There are several things posted there.

Some fixes.
One is with the Finns:
Fix the Finnish infantry companies, so that after May 1944 they still have three infantry platoons each instead of only one(!)

Addition of new countries to WF EF and RS.

New countries for WF
Ethiopia for the Ethiopian War 1935-6, subsequent partisan war and the campaign 1940-41.
Allied Republican Spain and Axis Nationalist Spain for Spanish Civil War, and hypothetical operations in Spain in WWII.
Iran and Iraq for the 1941 campaingns there.
Axis Bugaria, Croatia and, allied Albania for the WWII in the Bakans
Allied Brazil - the FEB that fought in Italy

New countries for EF
Allied Yugoslav Communist partisan army 1944-45
Allied Bulgarian Army 1944-45
Axis Iran for 1941 Soviet invasion of Iran.

New countries for RS
Allied Far Eastern Russia 1938-45
Allied Mongolia 1939-45
Allied Netherlands East Indies 1942
Allied KMT China 1937-49
Allied PLA China 1937-45
Allied French Indochina (Vichy but fought with Japan and Thailand) 1940-41
Axis PLA China (axis for Civil war with KMT)1937-49
Axis Manchukuo 1937-45
Axis puppet North Chinese 1937-45
Axis puppet Nanjing Chinese 1938-45
Axis puppet Mongol 1937-45
Axis Thailand 1940-45

3 Additions to existing WF country forces:
Germany - forces for the Balkans, Italy, North Africa, special forces, captured weapons, rail units
Axis Italian - Army of East Africa for the Invasion of Ethiopia (1935-36) and the campaign in 1940-41.
CTV for the Spanish Civil war. Italian forces in the Balkans. RSI forces 1943-45.
France: Maquis and other resistance forces
Britain: Forces in East Africa and Middle East and North Africa
Yugoslav - partisan forces (axis and allied) Chetnik and allied Communist partisan army.
Greece - partisan forces
Vichy - Milice and Groupe Mobile de Reserve for anti partisan operations.
Allied Italian - partisans and other forces in Balkans and Italy.

4 Additions to existing EF country forces:
Russia - Heavy Artillery, special forces, rail units. Captured equipment other Soveit troops and equipment
Germany - Heavy Artillery, captured weapons, special forces, rail units
Allied Poland forces 1943-45 fighting with the Soviet Union. Partisans.

5 Additions to existing RS country forces:
Axis Japan forces for Sino Japanese War 1937-45, Axis Indonesian, Burmese and Indian
nationalist forces.
Allied UK Malayan colonial forces and partisans, coast watchers.
Allied US Phillipine guerrillas

Most of this has already been done or being worked on currently by members of the Blitzkreig Club update project teams. Should be easy to add on to the existing game.

This might be a good one.
...and don't forgot Independent Czechoslovak Army Corps in USSR (1943 - 1945), they fought against Manstein's counterofensive south of Charkov, then near Korsun, liberated Kiev, battle of Dukla Pass and so on

We created some addon for this http://tanciky.cz/cs/index.php?page=utils#addony
see ÈS vojsko v SSSR (information are just in Czech language though)

I looked at it and it seems good if it can be vetted by some knowledgealbe person. Then It would need some changes to the org.exe and scenario exe and weapon.pdt/pdx to make it compatible with the existing game and other addons. It works ok with EFII from my little test:
