Star Wars....the mod continues.....

Well some people might remember this from SSC. A small group is making a great mod with top quality work.

Hi,

The proposed modeling for the upcoming Star Wars Starshatter mod looks great. [:)]

I was working on Star Wars mod myself some time ago and I got models converting them from X-Wing Alliance. I had few problems though, like limited number of thrusters (game allows 8 but Corvette has 11 engine ports) and stupidity of AI. So I gave up.

Problem with AI is that it don't like short range combat. So when fighter models are close what they are described to be (TIE Fighter 6,7 meters or something like that) and effective hitting range is less than 100 meters, AI can't make it. That is becouse Starshatter is designed for ranged combats with oversized ships. Something to consider when messing up with mods.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

I concur with your observations. Starshatter is primarily geared towards large capital ship long range space combat.

Still, within its parameters, Starshatter, is a great gaming platform. One simply must work within its limitations to create the desired effect as close as possible. [:D]

Keep em flying.

Yeah, but I was working with X-wing Alliance for years. I helped the community over come lots of limitations. Dogfighting could be tweaked but it will get worked out.

Anyone wishing to join the team should inquire within.
