Ahhh...but will he join in battle? Sneer is close enough to sprint and then launch. Will he or won't he?

it is defensive battle so you act and I make decisions what to do with it
I'm not as aggressive as you may think after initial campaign
your fleet is bigger and stronger, planes number is similar
neutral scenario would assume neutralization of carriers by themselves and in conventional means you are far stronger.
i'll not make your task easier [8D]
if I run after you Wake is lost
if you want it you need to go after me or convince me to leave[:D]
you know I shouldn't loose Wake so early

I was also looking at what your CV TF makeup was going to be. You have given me a good look at it, and I have sunk a lot of jap subs as well as a number of surface units.[8D]

It was also informative as too what your reaction time was/is and a rough idea where your CVs were based......lots and lots of useful intel.

The only real loss is kitakami and isokaze - rest was crap

Raverdave expected me to run into wake-midway area [8|][8|][8|][8|][8|]
wake is safe and next time it will be much stronger

IMHO the strategic victory goes to the Japanese (Wake is saved) but it is only temporary. The Tactical victory goes to the USN for sinking more valuable IJN hulls than they lost. My guess would be that the Allied BB's expended too much ammo on the surface combats, and Raver calculated he could not deliver enough of a bombardment to properly soften up Wake's defenses.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

there are little targets with bigger value than Wake at this moment.
I could not afford its loss now. All efort made to canton/baker and gilberts as well as south marshalls would be a waste if Wake is lost in 42. in 3 months division size units will reinforce central pac as china will be finished soon - Yenen is about to fall with half of chinase troops - 50 units will be left at Chunking but i think i can spare 2-3 big units.
There was no mayor fleet battle but at Ravers conditions it was not possible - he started offensive against Wake and wished it to be Midway battle with full support of his B17 and p38 as well as having lvl4 port at his back. It would be stupid to go on his terms and very naive from Raver to expect that from me.
losses were bigger but still low - 4 CL 6 DD 4 SS only- only 2cl and 1dd were relatively modern - all really good ships are with main forces. I had no losses till now so i can live with it. No, Wake will not fall. And Raver will find this loss of momentum painful

It's going to take me a few weeks to do an evaluation on how that first attemp went, and then make any adjustments for the next op.

There are no B-17s on Midway, nor are there any P-38s.

I could have hoped that Sneer would be a bit more free and easy but he is tight and this will also have to be factored in for the next step.

i'm following my battle plan for 4th Q 42 - that's all
my forces are more or less divided and you are slightly unhistoricaly concentrated
if you retreat when you have force advantage it is your choice
11/25/42 KB hunts subs as well as all land based planes in the area
3 subs sunk - numerous hit - too many even counting huge number of planes devoted to task and their experiance- but Raver hit few of my subs few days earlier so I take revenge

next 4 subs sunk - 10 total for this sweeping operation
11/28/42
next sub sunk - 2-3 more are heavily damaged
looks like long range subs were decimated during this operation

chinase epilog

Post by Sneer »

I should take Yunan within week time in worst case scenario and 2 weeks later i'll enter Chunking
if Chunking garrison is in similar shape it should be fast end easy
the only problematic chinase troops are kungchang cut off group - but it is bug so i'll deal with them later

Ground combat at Yunan

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 285100 troops, 2851 guns, 725 vehicles

Defending force 94881 troops, 264 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 4

Japanese assault odds: 2 to 1 (fort level 4)

Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 4

Japanese ground losses:
6122 casualties reported
Guns lost 110
Vehicles lost 7

Allied ground losses:
5242 casualties reported
Guns lost 41

I have been following Aztez AAR and he is just behind you with China being overrun. Is it possible to hold on only in Chungking or is China's downfall pretty much just a formality??[&o][&o]
