Posting Map Pics

Post by Japfanboy99 »

I'm looking for a bit of help in posting my screen shots into my AAR. I'm using IRFANVIEW to paste my shots onto, but I can't figure out how to move thme into my AAR post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Ok, the actual process of uploading is simple, but you can only upload one picture/ map per posting. Simply click the bottom of your new post 'Click here to upload', point to the picture/map and say ok. It will then upload. Click 'embed picture in post' and when you post the completed material it will appear under your text.

I don't use Irfanview, but to be able to post you rerally ought to save the finsihed map as a .gif not a .jpeg as its a much smaller file. If its not posting then the size of the file is too big , I recall 750K is the maximum you can post as a file. Also if you can reduce proportionately the size of the picture/map so its no more than 800 pixels wide otherwise it throws the whole post layout out.

Any problems drop me an email at didactylos at bigfoot dot com

if you want a good free photoshop type programme to add things to or modify your screenshots try paint.net at http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/

There is another way to put pics in your posts here. It is a little more involved but would also allow you to put more than one pic in a post.

First, upload your pic(s) to an image hosting site. There are a number of them out there, I personally use ImageShack. If you want URLs for more, send me a PM. Once you have uploaded your pic they will give you a list of "codes" to use. We'll keep things simple here, so copy the one labelled "Direct link to image". Get the post creation window here, click the "image" button and paste that link inbetween [im[/i]age] and [/ima[/i]ge]. That's it, just repeat for each picture you want to show. (One of the advantages of this method is that the "Preview" button will show your image(s).)

Example:

[im[/i]age]http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/9998 ... hog1eh.jpg[/im[/i]age]

will generate this

I believe it is a cousin of his. From the branch of the family that stayed behind in the old country. [:'(]
