Another place to visit along this type of topic was Fort de Russy, Honolulu. Coastal Battery that has been turned into a museum.
Unfortunately, I have no pics of this site to offer. Anybody else reading this been there?
Holy Moly! 231 pages?? Ummmm, I am not sure if I can browse through all that today...

GF Mark I worships me....except when i'm on the computer....in which case she wishes to partake of the frying pan and practice being Barry Bonds.
RE: Fort Worden Trip
So now you know what brings our her true personality.....for mine, it's leaving trash cans full too long. [X(]

What is it with the trash cans? Same thing at my house. I personally don't see a problem with it as long as it doesn't overflow enough to block the fridge or the computer screen.
RE: Fort Worden Trip
If we don't empty our trash cans......the Yellow Dog of Annoyance (otherwise known as the YDA) sneaks into the kitchen at night and leaves a suprise for me when it's time to go to work.
This morning it was Taco Bell wrappers all over the living room floor.

GF Mark I unit insisted on a road trip and wished to go explore "Olde Concrete" again since its a good way to spend a partially sunny afternoon with Boyfriend unit + dogage. (it also drags me away from the computer)
Now in posession of a digital camera, a return trip to Fort Worden seemed a good idea. If you've ever wondered what that little static LCU on the West coast looks like....here's your chance:
Picture 1. Looking NE from the main parade grounds just after you enter the fort. The houses in the distance were i believe officer's homes for self and family members (you can now rent one out for a weekend excursion though not all have been restored)

These pictures bring back old memories. I was stationed on Whidbey Island in the mid 80s and remember those forts well. Unfortunately most of my pictures were black and white or slides (I was a photography back then in the Navy).
