For a fourth night the Royal Navy and the Imperial Japanese Navy trade body punches. The IJN sends in lightly armoured cruisers, but the RN sends the Warspite in to the fray and scrounges up a few damaged ships in Soerabaja. It is crucial to prevent a serious bombardment of the airfield at Soerabaja lest the 95+ fighters now based there be destroyed or grounded, thereby exposing any ships operating there to the Kaga and other unidentified carriers operating in the Java Sea.

Another R-class BB is on it's way to Java and 4 US pre-war BB's have circumnavigated Australia and will refuel at Broome. They must get to Soerabaja before the Yamato comes back.

During it's egress from the battle scene, Jintsu sustains 3 torpedo hits, 2 from the murderously successful, KXVIII and one from Beauforts operating from Madioen.

It’s well known that a litter is much more comfortable than a Jeep, especially when traveling over these abominable travesties that the Australians call roads up here in Queensland. Of course, I still have my converted B17 for longer trips; and the bearers and the litter ride in the converted bomb bay.

The SWPac front is quiet these days, what with the fighting in Java and Timor taking all the resources. I am busy building good will with the indigenes. [8D]
