Awards PUC and a DFC

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Awards PUC and a DFC

Post by Hard Sarge »

while we do not get awards in the game, I think if this was the real war, some would of been handed out for todays missions

Aug 17th 1943
while the main strength of the VIIIth Bomber Command was used attacking targets France and Belgum, along with raids by 2nd Tac and IXth Bomber Command, the 353rd FG lead by Lt Col Loren McCollom (recently of the 56th FG) lead a Sweep in support of the VIIIth attacks

JG 26 made some successful attacks on the bomber stream, before being chased off by the 56th and 78th FGs, as the yellow nosed 109's broke away and headed home, the Jugs had to return to there charges, soon to be busy once more as 190's and 110's entered the battle

Low on fuel and strung out due to there battles, the 109's of JG 26 headed for home, only to run into the 353rd FG on the hunt

Lt Col Loren McCollom, became the first US Ace of the ETO, when he shot down 5 planes in this mission, many a enemy plane was shot down and the field was left in flames as the 353rd turned for home, to add insult to injury, the B-26's of the IXth AF plastered every Hanger on the field

Sarge, there is something wrong with your screen [:)]. There is an entry for ground kills, and also, the screen is really garbled - the turn is 17 Aug (turn 1), and the unit is listed at 19 kills. I think you need to explain how you can corrupt the screen shot so badly![:D][:D]

Mind you, in a old game, one of my aces had 6 kills in his first 2 missions, flying a 410 with 31 exp! Beat that...

Oh yes, and have I ever asked for unit kill totals to be seen on the view air units screens (so that you don't have click on each unit in turn)?

Well....
lets see....

Aug 17th is the first day of our war, so yeap that is right

the 353rd was on a sweep, got 1 kill on the ground (along with a number of damaged) and then shot down 19 planes, so, garbled or not, the info is correct

and Lt Col Loren McCollom is the first Non NI to get five kills in a single mission I have ever seen or heard about

I got NI with 6 and 7 kills in one day

(LOL I got a NI Pole, who flew two missions in the same day, 4 kills the first mission, 3 kills the 2nd)

more screens to follow

Day 2 was light combat

Day 3 was bad weather all around

Day 4, good weather in both combat zones

a good day !
a low level 17 strike hit a loaded base in the Med (and I forgot to plot the sweeps !)

one sweep found targets

decoys and baits across the board, most Gerries were tried and out of gas once they found a target to get close to, they should of went home

the 78th had been a monster, overall, I think the poorer showing by the 4th and 56th is more the 78th don't leave any targets for them

the 353rd is still the glory boys, but the 78th is breathing down there necks

which remember, take these with a gain of salt

no sane commander would leave all those planes on bases so close to the front like the AI does right at the start of the game

once the AI pulls back from the coast and the Allies land in the boot, then it gets HARD again

but....

Hmmm - P-40F with 34 durability, just one lower than the P-47D ? Sounds a bit high. The P-40 should be similar to 109/Spit/Hurry

BTW: Some nice Infos about the P-47 especially the D-version with different sets of bombs and drop tanks and also the egative effect of wing pylons:

Hi Denniss

thanks, I was already there :)

the P-40 is noted for being pretty rugged, so I improved it's Dur

I have the P-40 F and P-40 N both at 34, both were known for taking a lot of damage

the P-40 L has been dropped to 32, as part of the changes was the removable of armor and MGs from this model

for the 47, each model improves, as each model also added armor

one hassle is the 51, it is listed as a 32, now, the 51 could take good damage and return, the hassle was, small arm fire from the belly, so over all, I would rate the 51 tuffer then the Spit or the 109, but it is close to a P-40 or P-47

the hassle with the 47, from what I see, all models were upgraded as they could, if it took 200 hours to fix the pipes, it took 200 hours, you will find P-47C still flying in 44, but they are the same C's that were flyin in early 43

HS

Is there a way to to export losses to a txt file?

I like to keep a monthly tally of losses so I can judge how I am going.

Hi Denniss

was debateing about adding the D15 or just waiting for the D20 to come out

but since you bring up the drop in speed on the early wing shackles, that makes it a worth while add on, plus as it not until Nov add on, it will not hurt the production rates too badly

as I plan on dropping the C altogether, I can up the rate for the D-6, while not haveing to use all of the 43 D production for it, saving some of it for the D-15

it will still be until Mar 44 for the D-20 to come out

oh, and in case your wondering

the 56th first flew with 108 gallon tanks on Sept 27, 150 gallon tanks on Feb 20th 44

Like it!

I know I am being real fussy at what is a WIP, but you couldn't put the sub-types in order of introduction on that sreen, rather than alpha-numeric?

Brilliant job though, keep them coming!

sorry, that page reads according to name (since P is the same that is all it sees) and then by slot

I would of liked to of gone in and added in plane in order, but the data base is not set up that way, and I got to pick and chose where I put stuff

you should see the pilot data base
