DurnedWolf (Allies) vs ADM Halsey (Japanese)

Post by durnedwolf »

Historic 1st turn w/surprise

Anything goes. I like a game where you take every advantage you can find. All is fair in love and war.

Halsey agrees to activate Soviets - he can attack in June of 42 while I can't use them until Aug of 42.

It will be interesting to see what his opening strategy will be.

As of 12-10-41:

Moderate naval losses @ PH from KB attack. I've already lost Hong Kong and Japan has a foothold in the PI. I believe Wake will hold. I am already deploying counter strategies against my numerically superior foe.

Raheang has been captured by British troops. It will be interesting to see what he does.

Another cold spell is coming to these parts, according to local weatherman Hue Witt. He says it's gunna be mighty damned cold, with plenty of wind from the East, and if'n your milking your cows tomorrow morning you might wanta warm your hands under your armpit afore you go messing around with O'l Bessy's teats or she's gunna kick you for shure.

Pete Wilson at the local mearchant's store has canned peaches on sale at really low prices - 3 cans for two bits. He also wants to pass along that the store has a fresh supply of plug tobbacky.

Fred Cooper tied one on (again) the night afore last and was found this morning in Jan Bloomer's chicken coop. She discovered him in the morning when out collecting eggs for the market and called Shariff Watson to come over and apprehend Fred. Shariff Watson said Fred was covered in chicken crap and that he had to toss Fred into the Wishywashy river to clean up some before taking him off to jail. Watson said he'd be damned if'n his jail was gunna smell like chicken crap.

Jan Bloomer says she thinks Fred was doing unatural acts with her chickens last night on account of her rooster (named Bruster) seemed some put off by what had been going on in the coop during the night. Of course you all know Jan so if'n you want to get more on this sorded affair you can see her at the market where she'll be selling her eggs.

World News
After a stunning, sneaky, devious attack by Japan, the allies find themselves at war. Allied military leaders are quickly assessing their options as Japan takes aim at a sleeping giant. As one prominent rancher in Texas noted, "People are just madder than a big O'l grizzly with a sore tooth. We're a fixin' to take aim at them sneaky Japanese polecats - an folks from Texas ain't to much for missing what they aim at!"

Hong Kong has fallen, and the Japs have hit the PI, Wake Island, and Malaya. Current reports show Wake Island is holding out. Bloody fighting in the PI pits American troops against a numerically superior force. As corespondents in the PI note, "The PI is a target-rich environment."

The British forces in Burma have declared a stunning victory @ Rahaeng. British foot soldiers, in a stunning night attack, captured the Japanese Rahaeng Base and are already digging in. As one British soldier noted, "We have plenty of ammo and prepared firing positions. If the wee buggers want this base back they'll have to dodge Her Majesty's bullets and artillery rounds."

This is Al Bedwettter signing off tonight for radio station KTDJ (Kill Them Damned Japs). We'll be back to you with more news on the war front tomorrow morning when we start off with more news and music at 6am. G'nite all.

I'm moving troops about trying to straighten out troop deployments. It looks like Halsey is trying to vacate Wake. I tapped an AK with a sub but she got spanked by the Jap DDs in the TF.

@ PH I'm running ASW TFs plus using my air resources. I want to sink as many of those nasty subs as possible. I sank one for sure and spanked another pair.

I sure wish I had s boat-load of political points - it would make things easier.

I'm trying to use sub transport to move a few units but am having problems - I posted a help request on this topic in the Forum.

I spaced leaving 3 DDs @ Hong Kong - they were scuttled of course.

Judge Riley find Fred Cooper for being stupid enough to pass out in a chicken coop. Apparently there is some law on the books for stupidity above and beyond normal stupidity. Fred can either pay five dollars or serve 30 days in jail.

Hue Witt, our local weatherman says to get ready for some snow tomorrow afternoonish.

Pete Wilson says he's all out of the fresh plug tobaccy but he has some old stuff from a few months back. Come on down and he'll cut you a deal.

Deacon Jones wants to remind everyone that there will be a pretty good sermon, music from the traveling Evangulist Chior, and a box lunch auction to help raise money for clothes and school suplies for Mother Mary's Orphanage.

Johnny Deaver's son Anthony has gone off to the big city to join up with the Marines. Anthony said he just can't abide sitting here safe at home while them Japanese are out there doing awful things.

World News
The Navy reports sinking a sub off of Hawaii and damaging another pair.

Apparently over there on some island named Wake, the Japanese unloaded a bunch of troops and tried to open up a can of whoop-ass on our troops. Our Marines smacked 'em around something terrible. I hear now that the Japs (what's left of 'em) are loading back up on their ships and getting outta their afore they loose all of their troops.

Some Base in Maylaya called Khota Bharu (trust me - the spellin's right!) got overrun by the Japs. The pushed out some of our Limey friends but the limies say they gave as good as they got.

Some feller in an Army uniform came by mainstreet today and put up a few posters to help identify friends from foes. Apparently there is some confusion with all of the different uniforms or something. Anyways - if'n you ain't seen a Canadian affore, come on down to Mainstreet and take a gander at one of them posters. Just my own opinion but... The uniform is alright, I guess but the hat - now that just hasta go - know what I mean?

Moving troops around. Moving ships about. Moving Squadrons here & there.

Spending political points.

Spanking Japanese subs near Hawaii.

Scratched the paint on a Japanese bombardment TF near Kuching.

Things are heating up in Malaya. Halsey tried a para-invasion of Johore Bahru. I took great pleaseure in seeing the many TR planes catching flak. Then the remains of the para-units tried a shock attack. There's a whole lotta paratroopers feeding flies now.

It looks like I saved most of my ships from the PI region.

Sub transport works - that's cool! I think I'll try another type of sub mission later... [:D]

Fred Cooper didn't have a 5 spot on him so he'll be staying at the crowbar motel for 30 days. Sheriff Watson is asking if anyone has need of community service to give him a hollar. The Sheriff says he'll be damned if Fred's just gunna sit on his keaster all day and git fat off of the county's charity.

Hue Witt was dead-on with his weather calling - did he git it right or what? We musta got 2-3 inches most places. Hue says to watch out fer that windchill and bundle up. Winds will be comming from the North and you know that's not good.

Felix Dufuss shot himself in the foot whilst cleaning his 6-shooter. Doc Brown says Felix has all of his toes still, but you can see daylight thru his foot.

Betty Joe was getting down last night; Deacon Jones seems some upset about it.

World News
Apparently some Japs jumped outta planes wearing parachutes over some place called Johore Bahru in the country of Malaya. I reckon they weren't counting on an Aussie infantry unit being underneath them as they cam floating down. It musta been like shooting fish in a barrel. As I hear tell, them Aussies missed a few (don't see how). Thems that landed got together and come up with the idea of running at the Aussies in a group to try and over run the Aussies. I hear they call this a shock attack. Wonders never seem to amaze me! Them Aussies got to shooting at them niponese paratroopers and that was that. Oh I hear there's still a few Japs left over @ that Johore Bahru place - but not many.

Over at Hawaii our navy sank a few more niponese subs. Our destroyer ships just kinda run right over where the Japs are hiding and drop these big ol' barrels of explosive (they calls them depth charges) right on top of them. It's kind of like fishing with a stick of dynamite. It don't even seem sportin'.

I also gather the Japanese are trying to invade some place called Kuching (honest - I'm not makin' up the name) by boat. I guess a bunch of allied flyboyz flew on over and warmed things up a might with some of them thar GP bombs. I'll try to keep track of what's goin' on over there as I guess they spanked a Battleship and a Cruiser. (Can you imagine calling a place Kuching? Thar must be one heck of a story 'bout that!) Oh, just so you know, that GP thing is called an achronym - it means it stand fer something - and in this case it means "General Purpose." I reckon they must have some other bombs that are special bombs - I'll try to faller up on that...

Hearing 'bout them Aussies brought that army feller out again with a new set of posters. They show what Australians look like. They have much better hats then them Canadian folk do.

This is Al Bedwetter signing off for radio station KTDJ - we'll talk at you tomorrow over coffee with more news and music. G'nite all.

Post by ADM Halsey »

This game and one other game unfortunately are now dead. I am not sure what has happened. I have had no contact with Mike at this time. I have sent him several e-mails and PMs.

It is sad that this has happened. I hope there is nothing wrong and wish him luck.

I enjoyed playing against Mike. All of a sudden no more contact. I would understand if he was upset, or real life happened. All I ask for is to let me know what is going on. He has logged on the forum. [:(]
