What is a easy way to make uniforms .

Post by DONMVP »

looking at that uniform tutorial at top of grapic site . I understand a need folder ,and away and and home to . But what do i put in the folder , the uniform template , or go to teams in a league i created, and copy and paste uniform parts there , or to a paint program .Sorry just confusing reading that manuel , and trying to do it . I do have gimp , and paint that is in accesories folder on my comp program . Also if i do create a uniform whats best way to put back into game . Sometimes think my dog can do a better job . Thanks in advance anyone who has ideals.

Well, once you create the teams, the folders and all necessary graphic files for uniforms and field art will be there.

There is a file available on http://www.fbmax.com/
Its called Basic Uniform Pack(by TheKtulu.....just download that and it has uniforms of all colors...you can always just use those, or even add your own stuff.

Step one with anything like this, is find a program and familiarize yourself with it. PaintShop Pro or The Gimp....are good for making uniforms and stuff.

That basic uniform pack . How do you use that , cut paste , or use the stuff on the side when you highlight like the helmet color .Off side says move , copy do you use one of those and do you click on the helmet in team folder or is there another way .Also can you use clip art for a decal and such .

ok. with the uniform pack I named everything by the color rather than as the Ux.bmp files so that it'd be easier for people to mix and match.

When you create a league, then a team, it creates the folders for you.

Basically you have c:\game folder\teams_leaguename\team_name

then inside the team_name folder, you have home & away folders. In each of those you have U0.bmp - U10.bmp U6.bmp happens to be the helmet. If you're using the uniform pack, just pick the color for each that you want, delete the game created file and copy the file from the pack in it's place, then rename it. If I remember correctly, I had everything in folders like jersey(U3) then a red.bmp, blue.bmp, etc. So, if you want a blue jersey - you take the blue.bmp from the jersey(U3) folder, copy it to the folder of the team you're creating, then rename it to U3.bmp

As far as the helmet goes, same process, it gets renamed to U6.bmp. If you want to add a logo, just open it in your paint program and add a logo, whether you draw something yourself or use clip art or whatever.

Hey DONMVP, I would just like to add that I highly recommend either getting Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop (or any other similar artwork program). These programs are extremely useful in creating the Uni art (or any artwork for that matter) then just using Windows Paint program.

I use Paint Shop Pro version 5.0 because I like PSP and I think its easier to use them Photoshop. Also, if you go to www.ebay.com, I'm sure you can find a real cheap copy of PSP (that is how I got my 5.0 version) for a good price.

I agree with Magnum357...I have used Paint Shop Pro for years. It may not be better than some of the more high end programs, but its fairly cheap, and easy to learn. And really, if you can find an older version...3 thru 5, that will do all you need.

With these uniforms, as with a lot of things, always remember..'Layers are your friend'.

True, so true.

If you're just starting out, I'd suggest The GIMP. It's free. Use that until you're sure your going to do enough of the graphics stuff to justify the purchase of something more expensive.

Hey DONMVP, as was stated above, Layers (which is used by most artwork programs) are probably one of the single best features of these programs. It gives you lots of flexibility to do this with Layers.
