RE: CHS Update List
Will there be May 1942 scenarios for new CHS version ? I'm totally fed up with those Dec 41 starts in Campaign since I only play against AI.

RE: CHS Update List
The following Allied ships have been added. All of these ships were, in real
life, named after ships that were sunk earlier in the war. These ships were actually
present in the Pacific during the war, but were left out of the official scenario
databases, presumably to avoid confusion due to a clash of names. Alternative names
for these ships are used (names courtesy of Ron Saueracker):

Andrew. Bataan was originally to be christened HMAS KURNAI and was renamed in honour of the US defence of Bataan (some say to spite the US for naming a ship Canberra after accidentally torpedoing the Australian Canberra at Savo--USS Bagley arguably was the culprit...OOOPS! ). I suggest that we use KURNAI in the game as who knows, maybe the defence takes place in Manila or Clark Field.

No need to be silly[:)], they were originally named as such, Bataan was named Kurnai.

Andrew,
Great effort.
Has the name of the northern Okinawa base been changed from Kadina to Kadena (or Ie Shima??)
Every time I raid the place I think I'm blowing up Kernalek Lowender.
Also, Is there a zoom to 1945, I want to fly B29's & Lincolns over Tokyo [&o]

Hallo
I have a question about CHS. Is thir a plan to include the "Kyushu Q1W Tokai" (Q1W1 - Q1W2)?
Omat
Not at this time, but if someone can make a case for I think there is room. Alikchi's Iron Storm which is based on CHS will have it, and I think EL Cid's RHS will have it. I've already done art for it.

Note that in RHS I have used ORIGINAL names for ALL escort carriers - no battle names or other renames. Same for Essex class ships. So it is the FIRST Bon Homme Richard you get - not the second - etc.

It is on Cobra's version of the new map. Which will be released with RHS and which work with either CHS or RHS - provided you want an extended map. There is no non-extended RHS map.

4. The Japanese land OOB and TO&E has been extensively revised to make it more
accurate. Please see the scenario documentation for details.
That's you Sid, innit? Any chance of a few hints what might be in store?
The base Albury is defined on AB's map, but isn't on AB's list, btw. Speaking of which, I was wondering if it was possible to request a version of the map without all the place names. IMO, it's getting a tad cluttered. I can already mouse over a base if I need to know its name, and I already know that the big sand-coloured blob at the lower left is called Oz etc.
Also, am I completely missing someting? Are the no RAF commanders in the game?
Where's the Any key?

No - you were replying to Andrew. However, since he has sent me his files repeatedly - and since I worked closely with Joe on the Japanese airborne - and with Joe on coast defenses - I can give you hints. I can do better than that if you want to playtest RHS - but know that RHS is NOT stopping with the CHS revisions:
AK Warrior's revisions to some US land units are included - including a revised armor division OB - addition of the 6th Ranger Bn (see the movie about the raid on the POW camp) - and addition of the French unit at Noumea. Possibly more. Apparently all of Cobra's Soviet LCUs are included - I tried to add them and found them identical - so they are in the latest CHS - [But CHS is going farther with Soviet units and I won't have slots for more I don't think] - I added the Soviet Navy and plan to add more of it - including an air force - for RHS. Andrew and I did slightly different versions of major coast gun sites on both sides - using data I supplied - mainly the big ones but also adding guns to Rabaul. [2 New Osprey books on Manila and Pearl Harbor, and 2 old ones I had] Joe and I totally redid Japanese airborne units. [New Osprey book and I found 2 US intel reports] Joe did all the big Japanese land units over again - and eliminated duplicated units. I am doing (for RHS) the same for armor now - again trying to deal with duplicates (a unit appears as a regiment, then reappears as part of a division). I redid SNLFs - and added CSNLFs - but got rid of components so there are no duplicates.
I have redone some Japanese engineers - and AK Dreamer may do the same for Seabees. Note that I added heavy transports and gliders to RHS - so airborne will be more deliverable - if you own the sky - or it will die under enemy fighters! There are some changes to HQ - Andrew is still thinking about it and may leave it alone - I changed Central Pacific to Pacific Fleet - and put North Pacific up in Alaska as Alaskan Command. South Pacific appears when it did - Central Pacific and North Pacific are just elements of Pacific Fleet. I took Asiatic Fleet out of USAFFE - Adm Hart would have a heart attack (pun intended) with WITP! We are working on others - it is hard - and testing things in place. I am a former test technician and I believe in testing - something long absent (probably for economic reasons) from WITP.

I would suggest keeping the names they were commisioned with, HMAS Bataan, USS Canberra, USS The Sullivans, where would you stop.
This also goes for the Base names, they should be named and spelled as they were in 1941. (Not that I know of many that are changed.)

Vast numbers of place names have changed. You will see many more period names in the new CHS (Kitakyushu is a post war amalgamation of several cities) - Fukuka replaces it for example on our map. And I have continued to do more of this - you will see the main base on the Pescadores named Baka for example -
I have added locations in parens behind names - Baka {Pescadores]
Taan [Hainan] - Tacloban [Leyte] -
and find in testing this really helps it seem you are getting reports -and instantly know where places are - even if they are obscure to modern readers.
