Post by pauk »

Yeah, we Slavs have same way of thinking[:D]

Actually i think that there will be app 400 Jacks in the future.[;)]. I do not expect miracle from Jacks but they are better planes than Zekes and they coming 6 month earlier.

Zeke/Zero family can't perform well against Allied death star in 1943 so their range doesn't have any advantage. I will keep some A6M2 for long range escort (suprise factor) but there is no point in having Zeke as backbone of IJN, me thinks.

On the other hand, Jacks does have short range but it will help my air defense against enemy 4E bombers, i hope. Right now i have plenty of crack IJA pilots spreaded in my "active pools" (several sentais have app 50 pilots) and when i drains my active IJA AF reserve then Jacks will jump in and try to defend our skies from Allied pirates. Meanwhile, IJA AF will train another echelon of veteran/crack pilots (70+).

I keep an eye on my navalshipyard pool - nothing else than Taiho and 3 Unryus are accelerated but i can not accumulate more NS points (i would think that almost 1.500 navalshipyard would be enough for that.....). Anyway, my carriers progressing well, same with Musashi....

ORIGINAL: Sneer

keep Wake strong or even very strong and then build up in southern dei

Wake is fort level and have 600 AP there. Two more naval garnisons are on their way to that base. If Andy goes for Wake he must count on well garnisoned and fortified Wake, with KB reaction and LBAs from Marcus island (AF already built to level 4).

But i think that he would continue with advance in Gilberts/Marshalls area because he have stronghold at Tarawa and Apamana. And P-38 are coming soon....

Southern DEI... doubt that he will try attack there soon. As you recall, i'm controls north Australia + Perth. I'm slowly withdrawing from Perth and organizing defense at Darwin and Derby. These two bases are crucial to defend - Wyndham is hard to defend for Allies (supply issues, exposed to naval bombardment...)...

So, I'm defending southern DEI in Australia[;)] (4 divs, mix bde and 100 Army bombers there)...
Potential danger is invasion of DEI from Indian ocean route and via Torres strait...

Don't think that he would dare to attack Java from India but i do have strategic reserve there (38th div and mix regiment) - the reason for that is simple.... most of his carriers are in Pacific and his supply lines are extremely fragile - and i have time to react...

Anyway, I'm aware that i won't be able to hold Australia forever and i'm planing to fortify southern DEI as well... but my priority are Marshalls, Solomons and NG....

He could try with attack in Burma.... 500 heavies in India... - i don't know if he can transfer them to Australia and Pacific or not (can he do it - his nearest base is Alice Spring ?)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/20/42

BURMA

Huh, Andy really wants to turn Burma into Stone Age. Keep your hands down soldiers, Emperor promises that Revenge day will come....

SOLOMONS AND NEW GUINEA

Andy sent light surface TF to Lunga - i don't know what he thought. Perhaps that i wouldn't mine Lunga?[:D]

TF 1003 encounters mine field at Lunga (67,97)

Allied Ships
DD Paul Jones, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
DD Litchfield, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Night Time Surface Combat at Lunga

Japanese Ships
AK Kunikawa Maru
AK Nagato Maru, Shell hits 7, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
AK Takaoka Maru, Shell hits 1

Allied Ships
CL Raleigh
DD Barker
DD Fox
DD Paul Jones, on fire, heavy damage
DD Litchfield, on fire, heavy damage

I guess he want intercept my transports at Lunga, but it looks that only one would be lost. Bettys from Lunga attacked unscratched part of enemy fleet first, but with no success...

Day Air attack on TF at 70,103

Japanese aircraft
G4M1 Betty x 8

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M1 Betty: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged

Allied Ships
DD Fox
CL Raleigh

Then second attack found damaged enemy DD and finish her.

Day Air attack on TF at 68,98

Japanese aircraft
A6M2-N Rufe x 3
G4M1 Betty x 6

No Japanese losses

Allied Ships
DD Paul Jones, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage - SINKS

Other damaged enemy DD should be find and sunk by tomorrow so total outcome is another IJ victory.

What he tried with that - only small raid or it is a part of distraction of my intention. I'm ready for that - somehow i found unusual lots of activity in Burma skies and this raid in the same time...

But, what he planing? Anyway, Gili Gili and Lunga are protected well, Marshalls are next obvious target. I'm still training figthers over Majuro and protect Maloelap with strong CAP... I have strong SC TF at Kwajelein but my CVs needs upgrade. Hopefully i will have enough time for that.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/25/42

BURMA

I think that Andy calls his air offensive operation Typhoon. Imperial HQ decide to respond this allied threat. But first todays action...

Day Air attack on Pagan , at 31,31

Allied aircraft
Wellington III x 62
B-25C Mitchell x 16
B-24D Liberator x 15

B-17E Fortress: 2 damaged
B-24D Liberator: 1 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
42 casualties reported

Airbase hits 6
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 150

I moved two sentais (Tojo and Tony) to Rangoon. They are ordered to patrol skies over Pagan together with Zero daitai from Rahaeng. We shall see if we can ambush enemy bombers, but i'm not expecting much from that. Damned air control numbers shown over the bases can warn Andy....

I just don't understand why people ignore this problem... i posted this issue several times but no one responded - they are all occupied with "free allied info" (red x icone over the base). But this "red x" shows only that some planes are located at the base, not actual strengh of air force in the area...

AUSTRALIA

Andy goes to close Darwin and my Army bombers attacked his division. In the afternoon that division overruns my art unit but doubt that he really want to do something there....if he tries, well i'm ready....

Day Air attack on 7th Australian Division, at 36,92

Japanese aircraft
Ki-21 Sally x 47
Ki-49 Helen x 19

No Japanese losses

Allied ground losses:
90 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

All bombing at 15000 feet

PACIFIC

Enemy paras captured undefended Makin. My sub located enemy ships NW of Baker but didnt attack (yesterday). I wasnt lucky today either, despite i have 80 LBA on naval attack (50% naval search). Nada... phew!

Kaga repairs one sys damage (down to 4) at Tokyo.

Hiryu and Soryu arrives at Osaka and Hiroshima tomorrow.

BREAKING NEWS!

it worked! Imperial HQ just recived message - ...our Samurais intercepted large enemy formation over Pagan and shot down 56 bombers, while three our figters are lost in air to air combat...

(more to come later).

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/26/42

BURMA

Image

Andy must be tired after we played four turns before and didn't change anything in his operation Typhoon (i can read how he name subject title if he post last in the AAR section:). Total outcome wasnt pleasing for him:

Day Air attack on Pagan , at 31,31

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 13
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 7
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 11

Allied aircraft
Wellington III x 63
B-25C Mitchell x 16
B-24D Liberator x 15

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 7 damaged
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 7 damaged
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 1 destroyed, 9 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
Wellington III: 43 destroyed
B-25C Mitchell: 4 destroyed, 4 damaged
B-24D Liberator: 6 destroyed, 3 damaged

Resources hits 2

App 20 bombers got through and bombing from 7000 feet.

I was suprised how well my LR CAP worked - 44 British and 12 American pilots were killed in bloody encounter above Pagan. Since we know that big bomber formations are more resistable to fighters i must say again i didn't expect such slaughter... but, all my Samurais are cream of IJ AF.

F2 Ominato (exp 80) is awarded with 12 kills and lost two pilots.

204th Sentai (exp 80) is awarded with 12 kills (one pilot killed)

9th Sentai (80) is awarded with 30 kills - Tonys are bomber killers, thats for sure (4 pilots KIA).

Now it is time to say goodbye Burma - i withdraw my mobile intercepting air group to Bangkok where pilots can rest, drink sake and have fun with local ladies[:D] They deserve it, right?

I didn't want leave them in Burma AFs because Andy have too many bombers and he could send retaliation strike on Rangoon and Raehang (form India). I will rather wait till i have enough fighters for both LR CAP and CAP duty...

Day Air attack on Mandalay - AF is completely closed.

Allied aircraft
P-40B Tomahawk x 53
B-17E Fortress x 31
B-24D Liberator x 57
IL-4c x 14

Allied aircraft losses
IL-4c: 1 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
26 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

Airbase hits 1
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 67

Day Air attack on Akyab - training missions.

Allied aircraft
Wellington III x 40
F-5A Lightning x 11
B-25C Mitchell x 6

Port hits 2

CHINA

Just regular bombings on Chinese airfields.

Day Air attack on Sian - from Homan.

Japanese aircraft
Ki-21 Sally x 24
Ki-49 Helen x 26

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-21 Sally: 1 damaged
Ki-49 Helen: 4 damaged

Allied ground losses:
8 casualties reported

Airbase hits 5
Airbase supply hits 5
Runway hits 24

All bombing at 9000 feet

Day Air attack on Kweiyang

Japanese aircraft
Ki-21 Sally x 19

No Japanese losses

Runway hits 3

-------------------------------------

Day Air attack on Chungking - from Wuhan

Japanese aircraft
Ki-21 Sally x 121
Ki-49 Helen x 18
Ki-46-II Dinah x 6

No Japanese losses

Allied ground losses:
128 casualties reported

Airbase hits 5
Airbase supply hits 5
Runway hits 97

bombing at 6000 feet

PACIFIC

All quiet. Two Zero daitai still perform training duty with attacks on Majuro.

LOGISTICS

I wasnt sure what to do with recently arrived reinforcement - Tk Div since this unit arrives only at 25% strengh (i planed to use it in China to gain exp and then send to southern theatre but now i need bring it to the full strengh).

Armoured div is on route to Singapore. I have more than 20K supply there so replacement should arrive. In emergency case i will send it to Burma or Australia.

But i'm quite concerned about tanks replacements. I order all tk units (except that tk div which is on route so no replacements are drawn from the pool) no replacements but i still have only 28 type 2 tank in pool. I have more than 300 "vechile points" in the pool but...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/27/42

Kaga is down to 2 sys damage (Tokyo) and will be ready for upgrade. Hiryu and Soryu upgraded this turn they are at 6 and 7 sys damage - hope they will repair soon - have plenty of repair points and ARs in Osaka and Hiroshima.

I ordered two brigades from Kwantung army to prepair for Sakhalin bases but dont want to spend 3.000 PP i have right now. I'm not sure if this worth it, i would rather pull one more division from Kwantung for other theatres (not sure yet where but you never have them enough on the frontier). But if i transfer division i could not reassign two mentioned bdes - i need to maintain 8000 AP garnison in Kwantung. Ufff....

PACIFIC AND NEW GUINEA

Part of naval garnison disembarks at Thursday island - i will have only small garnison there to prevent cheap re-take by Allies with paras. Thursday Island is one of non-important bases which can turn into important bases (threating PM).

TF 1025 encounters mine field at Tarawa (85,91)

Allied Ships
AK Admiral Senn, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Nice to see my mines are in love with enemy transports!

BURMA

Andy sent small bomber force to Pagan just to see what i'm doing here....

Day Air attack on Pagan , at 31,31

Allied aircraft
B-25C Mitchell x 9
B-24D Liberator x 5

Mandalay is heavily pounded again but i noticed less bombers than in earlier attacks...it could be that he transfered them from Ledo to Calcutta and preparing for air offensive on Rangoon.. I can not say that i'm ready to that threat yet - 2 Tojo and one Tony sentai would be ready for Rangoon defense in next few days, together with one Zero daitai. I'm keep strong TF at Tavoy (2 BBs) if he decide to go on naval run against Rangoon to destroy my planes on the ground.

Day Air attack on Mandalay , at 33,30

Allied aircraft
P-40B Tomahawk x 51
B-17E Fortress x 31
B-24D Liberator x 48

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 2 damaged
B-24D Liberator: 1 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
4 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Airbase hits 2
Runway hits 66

Other theatres are still quiet.

Put the area HQ with a high admin rating into the same hex and have lots and lots of supplies. Also give the tank unit a high admin rating leader

Hello Pauk,
great game from your side. I´m following from the beginning and really enjoying it. I wish you luck in coming dark times..
btw, you have 38th div in SRA and also in Truk ? Could you teach me those magical words for cloning? [:D] I hope no dancing is neccessary in the ritual. I´m very bad dancer. [:)] I woul probaly summon 20 more US marines divisions [:D]
I look forward to see how your IJAF and IJNAF will handle those P-38 that should be coming soon (if I remember corectly).
How do you manage your reserve squadrons?
I got used to the system that immediatly as the training group reaches desired XP level (about 75), it is disbanded into the compat group even if it is in full strenght. I´m in the april 42 and most of my combat units have about 80-100 pilots. I hope that these groups will not need any pilots for months.
Interesting to watch you invading Australia (I´m fan of India direction). Your AAR and AmiralLaurent invading PH are the most interesting AAR that are running now (at least for me..)[&o][&o][&o]

Greetings Jumper...

Thanks for the kind words and i wil try to answer to your questions thoughts as best as i can.
P-38 coming next month but it will take at least one month while Andy would have enough 38's to trow them into battle. But you are right, i'm going to face dark days soon.
I have 3 Tony Sentais in the Pacific and hope i would be able to keep balance in the air, at least for some time.

It would be nice to have 2 38th divisions, indeed, but it was typo - 48th division is in Truk.

I'm more than pleased with IJA AF shape. I have plenty of Sentais with pilots in the 80ies, while other performing training missions in China and PI. Quite a lot of my crack Sentais have more pilots than max number (from 40 to 65) and i hope it would be enough to delay those 4E allied monsters for some time.

IJN AF is not in such good shape, but i can not say it isn't formidable force. All my frontline air groups have exp 70+ (none of them have more than 27 pilots) while i have 4 training daitais (soon i will disband some groups into each other - when they reach 75 exp).

KB pilots are intact.

I was planed India invasion, but IJA miserable performance at Manila force me to change my original plans...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/29/42

Nothing to report.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/30/42

Nada.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/31/42

CHINA

Imperial HQ approved Seprtlja-go (if one of my countryman read this AAR he can translate from Croatian this title) due to total inactivity on the all frontlines (we can not allow this AAR die in the same was as Gen. Hoeppner's AAR died).

Army group "Ichang" will engage enemy 120 miles north of Ichang and try to cut off Chungking-Sian road. If Andy would be easy going like he was during Odbij-go (Homan) i could achive strategic victory in the China.

But general Pauk-san is realist and don't believe that Chinese will fall in the trap again. However, let's see what would happen here...

Image

BURMA

Day Air attack on Pagan.

Allied aircraft
B-25C Mitchell x 15
B-24D Liberator x 9

All bombing at 7000 feet.

We ordered Tojo Sentai to LR CAP Pagan tomorrow. One more Tojo and Tony are upgraded at Singapore and i could use them in the Burma in week or so.

PACIFIC

No enemy fighters on CAP duty over Luganville - Bettys took their chance and enemy DD eats one torpedo. Maybe it is time for IJN visit (SC TF formed at Truk and sent towards Solomons).

Day Air attack on TF, near Luganville at 72,107

Japanese aircraft
G4M1 Betty x 15

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M1 Betty: 8 damaged

Allied Ships
CL Raleigh
DD Barker, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Enemy transports reported at Makin. Americans will build another AF there but there is nothing i can do right now (i do not want go into "mother of all battles" there).

Surface TF was ready to engage enemy at Makin tomorrow, but instead of naval engagement, it was ordered to turn back to Kwajelein (the reason for that is simple: few transports arent worth puting CA, CL and 6 DDs in the danger - Andy could mined Makin, but what is more important is that another enemy surface TF reported at Tarawa. And dont forget damned PTs...it would be enough just to damage my ships and slow them down - during the day Mitchells would sink them....)

Lot's of transports reported at Tarawa. Does it means that Andy would take Marshalls route? It seems more than possible....

Damn! First of the new DDs hit allied mine at Nauru Island. I shouldn't
use this class for FT, although Nauru is mine and allied mines are located
earlier. Don't know if she will make it to one of Marshalls base with port

Fortunatly, i didn't slept there - i've expected something like this and my

Not suprisingly, Tonys performed best. 65th Sentai is awarded
with 13 kills (10 enemy bombers and 3 fighters) and they are
responsible for all shoted down B-17E this turn, i think.
Zeros (exp from 72-75) couldn't hurt enemy monsters (they damaged
some, but with no kills) but they shot down quite a lot Mitchells.

I guess that these B-17 are veterans, but hey, i didn't sleep either!

I checked their experience level and some pilots of this elite
Sentai (overall exp - 88) are gained experience:

J. Futagami -3 kills +2 exp (now 91)
S. Ishida - 1 kill +1 exp (91)
O. Miyabe - 1 kill +1 exp (95)
R. Kasabe -1 kill +1 exp (86)

This Sentai withdrew to Wotje to recuperate - i have big plans
forthis eilte interceptor group (exp 89!).

BURMA

I think Andy got message "no more easy gains for you" after
his colonial troops are defeated at Akyab and forced to retreat
towards Dacca (nice, malaria will spare my soldier bullets).

Ground combat at Akyab

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 1606 troops, 9 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 465 troops, 2 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 3 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
39 casualties reported
Guns lost 3

Allied ground losses:
6 casualties reported

Now what? It seems that Andy hoped for another cheap gain (Akyab) but I
denied that him. But I'm on alert there - Bettys on naval search reported
presence of the enemy ships in India. Not a lot ships, but i need to be
careful there.

CHINA

One division joined my bde in hex north of Sian and enemy was forced
to retreat in Sian. Good - his defeated units will drawn supply.

Ground combat at 47,28

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 32001 troops, 390 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 12176 troops, 58 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 6 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
87 casualties reported
Guns lost 12

Allied ground losses:
56 casualties reported

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

My units still are 40 miles from his blocking force near Ichang,
and it would be interesting to see who will came first. But
"Seprtlja-go" does not depend only on that - i'm reinforcing
my "Homan Army group" north of Homan and hopefully Andy would think
either i planing main attack there (and send reinforcements to Sian),
either i would be able to broke his defence at this hex.

IMPERIAL HQ NEWS SHEET

It seems that enemy plans offensive(s) against our Empire in the future.
Most likely would attack in two theatres at the same time what would cause
spliting of our Navy and KB. According to our inteligence service these two
theatres are Burma and Marshalls.

We are not going to reinforce Malaya/Burma with ships anymore - what is there
it have to be enough for holding the line (Akagi, Hosho, 3 BBs). Air force
is getting stronger day by day (have 3 crack LBA daitais) and two Zero daitais
will be reinforced with two chutais. Two more IJA AF groups (Tojo and Tony)
now transfering to Burma.

PACIFIC - one Tony sentai from Truk is sent to Kwajelein, and one crack
Oscar sentai (from Australia) is sent to Truk where will upgrade to Tony.

Upgraded carriers (Hiryu, Soryu, Kaga) will join rest of KB in Truk after
repairing all damage.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 09/05/42

Strike on NLF unit at Akyab wasn't pleasent. Only 7 squads left "operational" and it is clear warning what i can
expect in the future. Fast transport will pick this unit and back my brave soldiers to Rangoon.

Day Air attack on 1st NLF , at 30,29

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 32
B-24D Liberator x 38
IL-4c x 3

No Allied losses

Japanese ground losses:
178 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

All bombing at 6000 feet

I need just 10 more days, i hope would able to counter Andy after that. Rangoon is defended by 9th Sentai (Tojo),
204th Sentai (Tony), F1 Sasebo and F2 Ominato Daitai (Zero) - slightly more than 120 fighers.

In Rahaeng i have 24th Sentai (Tojo) with more than 60 pilots, while 50th Sentai (Tony) organizing at Bangkok.

244th Sentai and one chutai (both Tonys) are on r&r at Singapore so i would be able trow in battle more app 230
veteran (75+) and crack Samurais (80+).

I do have cunning plan indeed...already send several eng units one hex south of Mandalay and when the time come
they will march into base and do their job -repair AF. Meanwhile, figthers will land there and wait for enemy
strike....

But yes, i would do that only if Andy allows me (if he start pounding Rangoon i will need fighers for defence there).

PACIFIC

I think i would be able to save Akizuki - she is disbanded in Jaulit port and with the help from AD she is down
to 62/38/0.

Enemy bombers didn't attack Mili today. Recon reported only 90 fighters and 65 bombers at Tarawa. Hmmm... I would
expect more enemy airforce at lvl 6 AF. What he planing, are Marshalls only decoy?

Anyway i did it what i could (Wake is heavily fortified and well defended- 850 AP there), I have lots of planes on
naval search (plus Glenn equiped subs) in Solomons area, Combined fleet would be ready to react if he try attack
in 1942.... but then again, why he should do it rather than wait till 1943?

IMPERIAL HQ NEWS SHEET

1st TK Div will arrive at Darwin (capital of Independent State of Aboriginia:) where is SAA HQ stationed. I was
considering relasing one inf division from Austraila to Malaya/Burma but decided not to move it yet.

The Mighty Emperor Servant general Pauk-san told Imperial HQ that he feels quite confident in Australia and doesn't
expect major offensive against our Protectorat (ISofA) due several reasons:

1. Offensive is possible only via land route (enemy navy is hopeless there (i control West and East gate (Perth
and Port Moresby)

2. Enemy would strech his supply lines to maximum via land route

3. No air support is available (nearest enemy AF is Alice spring - 16 hexes from Darwin)

4. IJA AF can provide air support for defence.

However, Imperial HQ didn't approve sending inf division to Malaya cause we are aware that PM cant be defended in
long term. Same as Perth.

Perth will be abandoned as soon as situation become critical (i'm holding Perth for 4 months, i think and 300 HI
were produced each day there).

I would try to delay enemy at PM but doubt that i could defend it if Aussies comes in numbers there. I will defend
East gate at Torres strait - from Darwin and northern New Guinea AFs (i'm sending eng regiment to Sorong).

Oh, turn just arrived....

Japanese ground losses:

Guns lost 2

All bombing at 15000 feet

PACIFIC

No matter how many ac i have on naval search (at Lunga i had 15 Emilies and 20 Bettys) he always sneaks his carrier force. Fortunatly, i had bad hunch and ordered my SC TF (it was located southeast of Lunga) to back home last turn.

Only damaged AK in the port but she wasn't hit...

I do not know is this decoy but i've alerted all units in the Pacific (especially at Marshalls) and send Sho, Zui and Shoho from Truk just in case. Other CVs will meet at Ponape.

Greetings pauk:

Outstanding AAR! I am learning droves. Keep up the good work!

You are certainly confirming to me that you are one of the more skilled players as Japan.

Good hunting!

Thanks Odox! It is my pleasure to see new players are following my AAR. I hoped that other, not so experienced players could learn something from it (as i learnt from other WiTP veterans in their AARs). I can be pleased with my game so far and I hope that i would be good in defence as I was good in phase I (offensive) - only than i could take compliments from others:).

Unfortunatly, there is no many AARs reached late period war (lots of veterans missing - Gen Hoeppner, PzB..) and it is my intention to continue this game and AAR as long as i have a slightest chance to delay Allies.

Only from such AARs we can see what is really wrong in this game and what should be fixed/changed, meanwhile I'm still encouraging you that you jump in WiTP and play this wonderful game (although there is some glitches i can assure you it is best war simulation ever!).

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 09/07/42

BURMA

It was quiet day there

PACIFIC

Enemy CV TF withdraw towards Gilberts, but I'm still keeping my CVs near Solomons.

App 160 Zeros will sweep skies over Tarawa - they should have numerical and experience
superiority (70-80). Enemy CAP consisting of Wildcats mainly...

I want to keep pressure in Gilberts area as long as i can and since i have some 20 veterans
pilots trained in PI i can replace expected losses by tomorrow raid.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 09/08/42

PACIFIC

It wasnt started good... two Zero Daitais couldn't find the target and the outcome wasn't as i hoped it would be...

Day Air attack on Tarawa , at 85,91

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 123

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 55
Kittyhawk I x 15
P-36A Mohawk x 6
P-40E Warhawk x 6

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 24 destroyed, 2 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 47 destroyed
Kittyhawk I: 14 destroyed
P-36A Mohawk: 4 destroyed
P-40E Warhawk: 6 destroyed

Enemy lost 71 planes in A2A to my 25 (but i lost two more Zeros - ops). I can replace lost pilots but this action convince me - no more sweeps over Tarawa....

Enemy CV(s) still moving towards Gilberts - i recall my CV TFs and they are sailing to Truk.

BURMA

23 Wellingtons and 8 Mitchells attacked 2nd NLF , at Akyab. I can not put Tonys and Tojo on LR CAP over Akyab from Rangoon. I need more time to establish "fake" AF at Pagan and open Mandalay AF. Then we will talk again, Andy!

CHINA

Not all of my units arrived on hex 120 miles north of Ichang - but general Pauk-san decide to attack. We shall see what will happens there...

Sian will fall tomorrow and then we can close Seprtlja-go and prepare for defense in that theatre.

AUSTRALIA

1st Tk Division arrived at Darwin. I found one guy with good administration skills, i think (53). One tk regiment embarking at Darwin and will reinforce Burma. Latter i will send another tk regiment.
