Beta Bulge Bash ( was Silence! )

Post by Crimguy »

I'm assuming everyone is quiet because they don't want to interrupt Dave and the (imminent) release of COTA?

Actually, my sad truth is that I am flat out of tips. I have hit a wall - I am in a slump. Of course, this doesn't explain why there is none of the usual friendly banter from Ray and Eddy. Those guys never run out of stuff! :)

Maybe you just need to change what you're giving tips about . . . cooking, your short game, etc?

Well, as far as I know, Eddy is busy with real work and this Campaign game stuff he announced on April 1st in c.s.i.p.g.w-h newsgroup. [;)]

There were so many things already said about the game. I don't think there is much things to do but wait.
Fortunately, there is still the very untertaining "Road in CotA maps" threads.

No show from Eddy or Ray because we're too busy planning a trip around the Ardennes with Marc in a couple of weeks time. (How can we test the quality of the maps and movement in BFTB unless we've been there and walked the battlefields?)
This planning would not take all our time except that Eddy is writing some code to organise some snow to fall in May to give a realistic atmosphere.
Cheers

If this is organized, maybe I'd be able to meet you guys in person (aka the goal) and have a chance to pay you a beer (aka the bribe).

For snow in May, I can't help, I'm afraid. [:D]

While checking movement/fatigue rates, how do you plan to compensate for the fact that the troops who fought in the Ardennes were younger and fitter than yourselves and didn't bring along six packs?

What's this six packs nonsense ? - proper beer comes in cases of 24 [;)]

Real Life (tm) getting in the way of the more enjoyable things actually - we're nearing Gold on our main corporate application - implementation is set for April 24th - and that's written in stone as decreed by our manager. [8|]

There's light at the end of the tunnel, but I'm not sure it's not an oncoming train [;)]

Amen to that. If we can get input from the Benelux equivalents of a "Pyros Lambert" we will have the best operational simulation of the Ardennes Campaign available IMHO... (we may have it anyway)

I highly recommend hiking "Rollbahn A" from the woodsline near the highway at the Hollerath knie (dragons teeth and lots of foxholes from 3rd Bn/323rd) all the way to the Jansbach, and then up the hill to the foxholes of 3rd Bn/23rd (Charles Macdonald's positions on 17-12-44) The trail entrance into the woods is a little hard to find unless you know the area or have a good modern topo map.

Is it safe to go poking around on old battlefields? How do you know won't trip a mine or something?

It'll be perfectly safe for me - I'll let Ray take point [:'(]

The best topo map I could find of the area - any chance of you pointing out exactly where to go ?

Eddy,

1/2km to the left of your map is the bend in the highway (locals call it the Hollerath knie) and just off to the right is a turnout and picnic area near the dragons teeth. There will be a path that follows the treeline to the right. walk it about 100m and you will see to the left the trail into the woods. This is the start of Rollbahn A.

You bastards. This is too cruel. Here I am chained to the computer trying to finish off manuals and wondering how to pay the rent and you lot are going to be swanning around the battlefields.

BTW Eddy I would strap one of those slabs of Belgium beer you're so fond of onto Ray's back. That way he's far more likely to set off any mines. Though I'd keep an eye on him as he'll probably consume them at such a rate that the trigger effect will be reduced to a negligible amount within no time.

Have fun you lucky buggers.[:)]

What Dave!!! And risk the beer!! Better to put some rocks in his pack. Eddy pull the beer in a wagon and keep your distance. Those people that find y'alls remains will probably work up a powerful thirst cleaning up.[:D]

Okay Dave, since I've got your attention....not to rush or anything....but what are your thoughts on BftB development?

Will we see a campaign type system?

Any possibility of a PBEM enhancement.

SC2 and CotA are all I have in my future....its not that I'm so shallow...its just the element of time.

The Lord really screwed me over with a 24 hour day and this stupid, inefficient flesh and bone development to carry me around in, so I have to concentrate on the best.
