Digital Dowload for a pre order customer

Post by Hexed Gamer »

The new game Strategic Command 2 is out, and Battlefront has initiated a heck of a deal, in that all that pre ordered the game, will also be getting the physical item shipment perks as well.

If I understand it correctly, they are not being charged the usual nominal fee extra that would usually accompany a digital download, with physical item added to purchase.

This is only for the pre order crowd, a sort of thankyou perk for pre order.

My question, is Matrix Games interested in initiating any sort of policy, where they would consider the same deal with any new release?
It would be a nice way of making a nice gesture, to anyone that is willing to line up, and pre order any new games out from Matrix Games.

Just wondering, as I personally think this would be a good policy for ANY company out there that deals in a niche market like what our wargame hobby most certainly is.

Have to agree with you Les. A nice reward to the loyal and preodering fans.

And to add....what a great game SC2 is turning out to be.

What purpose does "pre-ordering" a digital download serve unless such a discount is offered?

It seems to me Matrix would need to introduce pre-orders just so they could give people discounts for doing it.. so what exactly would they get out of the deal? They obviously don't need pre-orders or they would already accept them.

Hi

I do not see any need for us doing pre-orders for our games since our games can be downloaded the second they are available in our store. Also we do reward our customers and not just on pre-orders but any time. When you order the DVD box game (Game On Demand) we allow you to download the game as well. So this way our customers do not need to wait for the game to arrive in the mail and can start playing the second after you are done downloading. We are already giving a cheaper price for downloads and only charging for the box to the customers who really want it.

Was the physical shipment of SC2 part of the initial pre-order digital download purchase. Because I am also trying to figure out why would anyone per-order a digital download.

Exactly Sarge, you get both. Initially there was no assurance that the DD would be available.

You get the DD right away, although there are some problems currently with insufficient bandwidth.

Later the hard copy of the manual and the CD follow, shipping was $7, total $52.
