For the snow/rain endzones I work with the center piece (which eventually gets cut and pasted to an already completed "frame". After I have used the "add noise" feature (monochrome gaussarian around 17-20), I add a layer of off-white with a opacitiy of around 20-30. Then I add a second layer a bit more greyish and set it to "dissolve" around 28% I think - this give the endzone a bit of degration. Sorry I can't give you the precise numbers as I am out of town, but hope this helps a little.

For midfields, I do the same thing, but add only one layer (which is greyish). Just make sure you clean up the background of the midfield image after it is merged and make sure it is all completely restored to that florescent green afterwards, otherwise you will get a florescent green/grey speckled square along with your design. Oh, and do make sure you check the looks of it a couple of times in-game...

Hope this helps a bit.
