Request for "clean" version of AB's map

Post by timtom »

Hi Andrew,

I was wondering whether it be possible to have a version of your map without the place names. I feel the map is a bit crowded by on-map names, most of which I either know already or can get by mousing over a given base. A "clean" map, I think, would be both more pretty and add to immersion.

I realise you're of course busy with CHS 2.00 [:)], but was hoping that the names are the product of some kind of overlay, which presumably would make a clean version easy?

Thx,

Tom

OK. I will make one. I am doing a minor update to the map, so I can create one for the new map version (5.2).

Of course, I'm a wierdo... I think that one without base names but with the names of the major islands and bodies of water would be cool... since that would probably not be easy, just take it as a joke and not a suggestion please...

I was wondering about that, so this is a question for timtom, AlaskanWarrior, and anyone else interested in a "clean" version of the map:

Do you want the land area (e.g. India, New Guinea etc.) and sea names retained, or should I get rid of ALL names on the map?

Take it all off!!!

In fairness, it'd be fairly easy to cut-nd-paste an "ultra-clean" version from the Tallyho version. This is what I've been doing up to now, but with the new seaborders in v5 this has become tricky to get right - well, that and I can't be asked no more.

FWIW I would like the land area and sea area names retained...IMO they would aid in AAR for novices.

I agree, plus I think they give a nice feel.... I don't ever think the map is crowded.
