Engineer Squads

LCU assault value is calculated by suming up all "enabled" Infantry Squads, AFV and Eng Squads. While with Inf Sqads and AFV is quite simple - they are both of separate device types, how system differentiate between Engineer Squads and "usual" engineers? They both are of Engineer type, but only Eng Squads are used in AP calculation. Does the slot matter?

I wish we knew (in the sense we knew the algorithms). I suspect

Engineer Squads are squads in the sense other squads are - and show up in squad count

Engineers are not squads in the sense other squads are - and do not show up in squad count - but help with things like construction

If Matrix uses its terminology logically and consistently (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesen't) - that would be what the terms imply IMHO

Imho, it is not only terminology. It is game mechaninics. The minefiled aka WITP modding.. [:)]

Would be interesting to try to move Eng Squad (ex. IJA Eng Squad) to other slot, or name it other way to see if assault value will change.. [8|] ... or wait till someone (Mike, Joe, Don) will answer [:)]

I already walked that minefield - indirectly - I tried to create another kind of engineers. Also another kind of support. Turns out support is hard wired (coded) to slots. You can copy them - but the copies do not work. But engineers? Yep - I have working "civil engineers" - they "eat supplies" and also they demolish resources or industry if a hex is captured. I like em. Anyway, I know this one. You can copy an engineer squad and it works - you can also modify its values - and it still works.
