AB's extended map

Post by Black Mamba 1942 »

Just found out the blocked red hexes denoting the passage doesn't restrict aistrikes.

Huh? What good is it if the enemy can sit on the other side and attack your tf's stuck in the lane?

Don't think I'll ever use the extended version again.
Airstrikes over blocked hexes, and too easy to pack subs along the one lane approach.

Oh yeah. The added map edge base islands just make it easier for the Japanese to block you in against the map edge.

Well...when are you going to deliver it? AB was kind enough to produce the map for free...why don't you cough up the hard code?[;)]

It must be obvious to your opponent that the rat runs can be gamed somewhat by an unscrupulous opponent. Tell him to rerun the turn or eff off.[:D]

Maybe the guy did not read the notes at ABs site but it was pretty clear to me. If the Jap is getting close enough to fly over gray areas or puts subs in the lanes he is cheating. Similarilry I think it was intended that Supplys/Fuel in the Middle East is supposed to flow overland or be carried only by ships arriving in the Middle East, and the Allies are supposed to leave the garrisons in the canal zone where they are.

Well, there isn't much I can do about players launching air strikes into the shipping lanes from outside them. As has already been said - that is cheating. I did make the shipping lane to Panama as protected as possible by making the blocked zone up to 12 hexes deep, but without a code change that is all I can do.

I don't want to shame him.[;)]

When he gets his auto victory I'm done with his game.

Third week in 2/42 and all bases on the map edge, but Papette, are taken.
India is about 30% conquered. He holds all the eastern islands with hordes of Betty's and Nells stationed for the transfer attack option to any of those bases.
Burma was bypassed for a massive assault on India, the DEI is about to fall.
The Phillipines are still holding. Another bypass, this is the apparent strategy of most Japanese players now. It reality, the Japanese considered the Phillipines a very important strategic target. Not in this game though.

Of course this early in the war, there's not much to defend India with.
Let's see, oh yeah, nothing but Zeros at the front line bases.

The only reason I'm still going is because I've sunk 3 of the KB CV's, for the loss of the Big E.
Also around 80 of his AP and AK's have been sunk, with about twice that number more damaged.
With the Japanese merchant fleet being dedicated for amphibious ops, how can it be stopped?

I haven't left much fuel for him in his conquests, but it apparently doesn't seem to matter.
There's currently 150-200 IJN ships operating in the Indian Ocean right now.
My remaining strategy for this game will be to bypass all of his forward conquests, and go straight for the juglar. The Central Pacific, there can't be much left defending them.

All the LCU's are out on the fringe bases.[:D]
