Hi all,

A frustrating day in the sub war.............

SS Bowfin missed AK Misaki Maru inbetween Pagan and Iwo Jima.

SS Muskallunge missed AK Glasgow Maru west of Tori Shima.

SS Thresher luckily hit AK Lisbon Maru with 2 torpedo's 240 miles east of Camranh Bay.

--------------

2 x AR left San Francisco today bound for Midway. They will enhance repair cabailities during Operation Falcon.

The fleets are about 1/4 of the way to PH right now.

Hi all,

A relatively quiet day as things go.

The Heavies at Darwin attacked Amboina airfield destroying 4 x Dinah on the ground. A patrolling Liberator also identified CVE Taiyo 120 miles north of Timor. Interesting. I've set all LBA to naval attack tomorrow.

----------------

SS Hake has mortally wounded the fuel laden TK Toei Maru with 2 torpedo's 180 miles south of Iwo Jima.

Unfortunately SS Bowfin missed another TK in the same convoy a further 60 miles south-west.

----------------

A further 6 x ASW (3 x DD, 2 x AVD, 1 x PG) craft left PH today bound for Midway. 1 of these ships will join the 4 ship TF there to make 2 x 5 ship ASW TF's. It's time to step up search in the area to ferret out any pesky I-Boats before the fleet arrives in c.2-3 weeks time.

An AK arrives at San Francisco tomorrow.

Good luck with that. You wanna borrow HMS Express and Electra? In my game with Gary C., they just accounted for two I-boats in the same hex, in the same turn.

Hi all,

Thanks T. I'll be just fine tho............[;)]

--------------

A major air victory was achieved over Burma today. Liberators escorted by Lightnings successfully pummelled Mandalay's airfields. They destroyed 50 Tojo's/Tony's on the ground.......

--------------

SS Pompon heavily damaged the Freighter Utide Maru with 2 torpedo's 240 miles south of Hong Kong.

Here's an overview of the score. Just passed 17,000:

I'm impressed. The allies are already ahead in both air and ship kills. And not all that far behind in ground combat. (Although I imagine it was worse before the Penguin's spanking on the rail line in Burma.)
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Thanks Capt. One thing to keep in mind this was a 42A Campaign = no first 6 months Japanese slaughter to counter act.

---------------

A further 6 IJAAF planes are destroyed on the ground at Mandalay.

Air raids on Myitkyina and troops there and on the rail, as per norm.

I upgraded my first P39 group to P47C's today at Noumea[8D]

--------------

SS Grayback moderately damaged AK Asuka Maru with a torpedo today 300 miles east of Legaspi.

I-Boat detected 300 miles SW of Calcutta....5 x British DD's en route.

--------------

A year from now some Northern French beaches are to become very famous.............

An AO arrives tomorrow at San Francisco.

Here's a snapshot of the main fleets progress to PH and then onto Midway..........

Hi all,

A further 4 aircraft were destroyed on the ground at Mandalay today. I'll probably bomb the resources at Pagan again soon and then after that keep bombing Mandalays airfields. Interdiction of supply is the key up here now. I have noticed a serious effect on IJA formations in Myikyina due to:

Bombing of Myitkyina supply
Bombing of Mandalay supply
Bombing of Myitkyina's troops.

Here's the effect it has had on IJA strength:

25th May 1943: Defending force 159603 troops, 1203 guns, 22 vehicles, Beginning Assault Value = 3039
7th June 1943: Defending force 153841 troops, 1064 guns, 11 vehicles, Beginning Assault Value = 2934

-------------------

I decided to start a pysche game with Faber.

Faber "Where did you say you were going to attack?"

Speedy "I haven't said but i'll tell you......Wake Island......."

Faber "Hmmmmm........is that a bluff?.......Wake is near the top of my list of suspected targets......BTW..you forgot to tell me the date and full OOB....."

Speedy "Let's try.....Lunga!

Date - unknown

OOB - unknown. Big."

Hi all,

I know Niceguy. If you can just get through the 1st year it's a lot of fun[;)]

Check out the screenie below for the full BB list. BB California will join 1 of the bombardment groups when the fleet reaches PH. Wee Vee will not quite be ready to participate in this one unfortunately.

------------------

SS Grunion did well today in sinking AK Takamisan Maru NW of San Marcelino.

SS S-27 was hunted unsuccessfully throughout the day by 3 x PG 240 niles NW of Marcus Island.

------------------

The bulk of 1st Marine Division, 2nd Marine Division, Americal Division, 112th US Cav Bde, 14th NZ Bde are now ashore at Midway. Some R & R for the boys for a week before the war against Japan really starts.........

Hi all,

The majority of the combat fleets should be at PH within 2 days. From there it's a matter of embarking some troops and it's off to Midway and then to Wake!

-----------------

SS Trout sank an MSW (Choyo Maru #2) 240 miles east of Naga today. It's believed this was part of a convoy escort.

The I-boat detected in the Indian Ocean receive a working over from Napier and Tjerk Hiddes........

-----------------

The Yunan P38's swept over the skies of Nanning today to find them empty.

The Darwin heavies plastered Koepang's airfields. The place was largely deserted other than a Dinah which was destroyed on the ground.

-----------------

An AK, LST and DD arrive at San Francisco tomorrow.

SS Trident left Karachi today bound for Columbo.

THIS IS A VERY GOOD ARGUMENT FOR A FIRST TURN STRIKE ON PH!

All the Threads I read where the JPN player argues a first turn stirke against Manilla or Sing is coming to mind.

Yeah well, how many PH strikes have we seen with better results than the real-life one, which is what we have here?

the only way to kill some BB's at PH is to stick around for a few days and that trades skilled pilots. With nik mod its doable as your initial pool is much larger.

sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

Actually the best way to sink BBs early, though its still not easy is to hit PH and then hang around with the KB and all your subs between PH and WC. The allied player almost always sends those damaged BBs back to the WC after the first couple of weeks.

Hi all,

Pauk - Am I not always on the right side?[;)]

-----------------

SS Trusty performed well today. Patrolling 140 miles ENE of Palembang she found the oil laden TK Kyokuyo Maru and penetrated her hull with 2 torpedo's. Although not reported as heavily damaged it is unexpected that an oil laden TK will survive 2 torpedo hits. Lets hope not.

-----------------

Bad weather prevented almost all air strikes.

A Glen zoomed over my Marine transport convoy at Midway. Wouldn't surprise me if he thought something was up now....we continue anyway.

PBM's from Midway located 2 I-Boats. 2 x 5 ship ASWs TF's are en route to the last known locations.

----------------

CV Formidable was the first UK CV to receive Corsair IV's today. These impressive fighters could allow seaborne activity in the Indian Ocean.

An AK and LCI arrive at San Francisco tomorrow.
