Bill (IJ) vs Ron (Allies): A logistics model study using CHS 1.06

Operation "Bail Up" was sprung on Bill today. This operation is basically aimed at isolating and destroying the IJA's 16th Division left hanging on Portuguese Timor. Not overly bold or adventurous yet the rewards are huge. Seem to have caught Bill a little off guard as the only force capable of a reponse are the CVLs used for the Samarinda landing, the IJN BBs having to rearm after multiple bombardments during the landings.

It resets when it feels like it.[:D] I'm about 50% accuracy lately. Awhile ago it seemed that 1 in 10 was accurate.

I've heard them all...fighter bombers strafing, FBs strafing PT boats, night CAP missions, misaligned game settings...personally I'm at a loss as to why this is still a problem. Sort it out. How long has it been? Fast forwarding is causing it? Then why are my replays different from each other when I run them? Smoke and mirrors. Good thing they are not trying to bring back Apollo 13, eh?

No sync issue today...totally random. But of course I'm bummed that my LBA launches just 4 Bostons out of maybe 40 bombers vs his CVLs offshore (Vengeances, Beauforts and Bostons). I've given up trying to come up with reasons because IRL there just would not be any for launching four bombers and twenty fighters while leaving three and a half squadrons at the base picking their arses.[:-]

As you can see, the entire western half of Java is now Japanese. I had to fall back as the loss of Batavia made everything west of Kragen untenable. Now I'm in a very strong defensive position with all bases heavily fortified, mined and garrisoned. LBA is very powerful as well. Madioen and the open hexes east of Madioen and SE of Soerabaja are crucial. Lots of mines and CD defences should delay any potential landings until the reserves arrive to contain the landing (I say contasin because one can't destroy a landing unit in a non base hex even with 10,000:1 odds) With the arrival of the Australian 7th Division the situation should be managable. I think I can now turn the DEI into a Japanese meatgrinder.[:D]

Wow, Bill not only tempts fate by staying in LBA range for three days, he closes the range on the third day! Boy, this must be nice to be able to do. I'd rarely come close to a Jap airbase brimming with unlimited torpedoes that are dropped by bombers that seem to launch more often than Allied bombers (oh yeah, Allied pilots have a whack more checks to go through for some reason...cowardice or something[:(]) And this is not exactly KB we are talking about, just a few CVLs. Well, finally get some hits (on a CA) while his Kates blast through the CAP losing one of their number and hit two cruisers.

Interested to see if he remains tomorrow...

I believe Bill is recreating the lack of cooperation between the Japanese Army and Navy in this PBEM as many troop laden convoys have been left devoid of fighter cover and ravaged by Allied LBA. Today, a convoy headed for Samarinda was set upon by Banshees from supposedly knocked out Balikpapan aerodrome and Hudsons from Makassar. No enemy fighters were over the convoy.[:D]
