v2.3 question

Post by dclemons »

I have just upgraded from 2.1 to 2.3. I have noticed a change with the possible locations a unit can move to when it is selected. Now when I select a unit, it shows LOS or something and sometimes no hexes are highlighted. As soon as the unit is moved one hex, the hexes it can move to are highlighted like they used to be on version 2.1. When I upgraded, I did install 2.2 first so I don't think that's the problem. Has anyone else noticed this?

I've got another question on something I noticed while playing v2.1. I was getting my butt kicked on one of the Stalingrad scenarios when "army broken" showed up at the bottem of the screen for the rest of the game. Is this similar to the battlefield integrity rule in ASL?

Actually, what I noticed with that is that you select a unit, and it doesn't show any move radius (CC on, in contact, set up for advance, not sitting on objective). Then, just left click on the unit again and the move radius shows up.

I also noticed in a scenario with a bridge that any unit starting on the bridge does not initially show a move radius.

I also found a way to move a unit that is out of contact (when CC is on). Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly how I did it now, so I'm going to have to experiment with it again.

This happens when you have CC switched on. I don't know why. If you switch CC off you get more normal responses. I think this was always true from version 1.

Thanks for the info. Apparently, when I upgraded command control was turned back on. I haven't used that option yet and didn't think to check it when I was trying to figure out what was wrong. Thanks again.

AStott: With CC on, you can always move a unit under normal circumstances, assuming it's been given something other than the default objective. I'm not sure whether or not it's not being in CC makes it only stick to it's objective path when moving or not, BUT, it won't move in any direction, if it's stance was set to defend when it's contact was lost. You can never change stance when you're out of contact.

Charles...

Ok, in that case, it must just be another issue with the move radius not properly showing up.

Yeah, I don't get it, sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn't.

I had one campaign scenario where I could not move ANY unit on my first turn, not even my A0. C&C was off. The next turn all was OK. I've not had this reoccur but like the other posts, movement problems just seem to come and go.

OK, maybe just a bit faded.
