Over on his AAR, faber is doing a victory dance. There's something deeply disturbing about a penguin doing a victory dance...

Hi all,
T - a victory dance? A victory dance? I would hardly call it a Japanese vicory. Sure he has temporarily stopped me taking Wake but has lost 2 x CV's and 4 x BB's...........
------------
The retreat to Midway continued n ernest today. SS I-6 tried to interfere with my CV's and their escorts. She was left limping away heavily damaged by the end of the day....don't meess with my DD's Penguin[;)]
------------
Air attacks in Burma and China as per norm.
-------------
33rd USA ID arrives at San Francisco tomorrow

That was quite the battle over a strategically insignificant bit of sand.[:D] Wow.

RE: 1st July 1943
I would say that one of the more unrealistic parts of this scenario is fitting an entire division on Wake, much less invading it with 7 divisions, but you've got to do what the game demands.ORIGINAL: 1275psi
fantastic battle
But i fear we will see a lot more allied guys complaining that taking atolls is unrealistic ect, ect.
PLEASE NOTE -in real life the allies pounded days and days at a time, some times for weeks.
As A Japan player I can tell you that bombardments do hurt -but 1 day, 2 days, even 3 or 4 days is not going to be enough.
You did not prepare properly -the imperial divisionis waiting, you need to pound for days.
I think you just gave japan a chance to drag this out forever by wrecking so many divisions!
Great battle but.

One of the bloodiest battles I have ever seen. It's the Jutland of the Pacific. That amphibious assualt looked like it turned into a real blood bath...great stuff!!

Hi all,
Aye. Jutland of the Pacific indeed [8D]
I think tomorrow I will be able to list every single ship that was lost in Operation Falcon and the causes. Should be a long list[;)]
------------
My last transports are about 1/2 way back to Midway now under CV escort. Unfortunately I believe 1 of the 2 transports carrying 1st USA Cav Division will sink.
------------
Lots of damaged ships either en route to PH still or repairing at Midway.
------------
I am looking forward to a foray into enemy territory within 2 months now. I will scour the seas with my CV's whilst LCU's are moved from Australia, South Pacific and the West Coast. I am weighing up different options as to where to attack.
-----------
Tomorrow an AK and a DE arrive at San Francisco.

speedy .. if your worried about an AP sinking with troops on , make sure there are other transports in the same TF .. so you can rescue the men at least..
Cant say i read Fabers thread .. but a penguin dancing reminds me of Wallace and gromit in the wrong trousers [:D]

Yeah....looks like a victory dance too......I guess since "march of the Penquins" has been taken we should label it "Glee of the penquins"

Try putting a lot of escorts in the TF with these transports. If one sinks, the escorts will pluck many of the guys out of the ocean. You'll lose the guns/vehicles but not so many men.

Hi all,
LOL guys. I know from Fabers mails to me that he classes this as a significant defeat. Other than the land victory the rest is not good for the Japanese. As he says the irony is that he was hoping the Combined Fleet would stop my invasion but the CD guns and mines proved to be the decisive factor!
Rob/Mike - good points. I have 2 x Transports en route from Midway to hopefully meet the striken and flooding transport. It's uinlikely they will reach her on time though. 360 miles of ocean to go with her at 87 FLT...............
Nik - No comment ....Incompetent Commander of the Batavia bad boys (the transport men you led to their doom).
T - I know not to trust you again [;)]
---------------
Interesting. Faber is bringing up more tropps to the Mandalay rail line! I must remember in my future games to include a rule about not using too many Kwantung/Home Defence units out of theatre.......Accordingly my O38 group training in Karachi will move to Imphal rather than Ledo to bomb the crap out of these Japanese gits.
If my men can just hold. Myitkyina will fall in time....every day he is losing strength there due to my interdiction campaign.
---------------
SS I-166 tried to penetrate my CV screen en route to Midway. Most DC's were avoided and the enemy commander did well but DD Charles Ausburne landed some well placed DC's that left the I-Boat heavily damaged.......
---------------
The Darwin based heavies have been quiet recently. Time for a visit to Kendari's airfields tomorrow......
---------------
SS Hoe intercepted a troop convoy inbetween Pagan and Iwo Jima. She damgaed the empty transport AP Husimi Maru. PC Ishigaki landed some nearby DC's causing 20 SYS damage. She is returning to PH and is to be replaced on station by SS Halibut.
---------------
Sorry guys. Forgot to record Operartion Falcon losses. Will try to do so tomorrow. It will take a while to compile[;)]
2 x AK arrive at San Francisco tomorrow.
The below screenie shows 6 units at Mandalay. There are a further 2 on the rail line aswell.

Hi all,
Weather was too bad over Darwin for any operations. We try tomorrow.
--------------
SS Trident fired her last 4 torpedo's at TK Kuroshio Maru. 1 hit which mortally wounded the ship blowing off her bow. The Tanker quickly 240 miles east of Palembang as the submarine moved towards Colimbo. SS Trusty is en route to replace her.
SS Kingfish was not as successful. Her torpedo's missed ML Hoko 120 miles south of Iwo Jima.

Hi all,
Good news my heavily damaged AP has rendevoused with 2 transports and 4 destroyers. They are standing by alongside the ship expecting her sinking.
------------------
Heavy bombing by me in Burma against Myitkyina, Mandalay and IJA troops.
------------------
SS Skipjack missed AK Momoyama Maru with 4 torpedos 120 miles NE of Jesselton.
------------------
The additional enemy forces on the rail line include the 3rd Tank Division [X(]
