Not much happening here im still fighting over Mandalay i lost coupple of Wellingtons but the losses are covered easly[:D] I just noticed that i need more Dakotas in the Theather so i will move some from Australia as i moved two large groups of those Planes there... my P-40's Squadrons have recovered losses and are now ready for Action ageain i need just provoke Willie to LR Cap Mandalay[:)] i send a small transport with supply to Akayab... i will do it few more times and then i will move some Fighters there[:)] any way stalmate in the ground War... well i know i need to start pushing Willie Back but i do not have enough forces to do it... [:)]

Watchtower 2nd phase has been lunched without the Pac Fleet commitment as Hornet is still (sys 20) and awaiting repairs... so i fragmented my transport ships and ordered them Full speed to Tarawa... First ships Carrying a Base force should arrive tommorow , the only escort provided is 18 PT boats and B-17's from Baker set on Naval Attack... there are about 20 subs stationed around Gilberts so maybe some of them will attack enemy counter-strike... some 12 more subs will be send to the area around japan to to bust my strategic war efforts... now i will use the time to move fragmented unit pices to their parents origins[:)] well if every thing goes well i will be able to make a push into the Marshalls in a month or two... [:)]

Im moveing lots of troops traped in the N China to the center of the country... as i expected i outmanover Willies troops so i think i can avoid serious losses[:)]

Great Victory have been achived today[:D] Yesterday over 100 A6M3 sweept Imphal but meet no oposition as my planes were away on a mission to bomb Mandalay[:D] so i knew something big is commieng... i Set all my Fighters on CAP 90% there and planes from Chandapur , Calcutta , Diamphur were set on LR CAP over Mandalay. Early in the Morning Patroling Pilots spotted a Large Formation of Japanese planes incoming... and they could not belive their Eye's No Fighter Cover... so they moved in...

As for now 2nd phase of Watchtower is goeing good i got a part of a Base force on Tarawa and Catalinas operating from it... i spotted some Japs ships comeing in... probably a bombardment force... no worries i moved my transports away and i got 12 PT's weaiting for the Japs + over 900 mines[:D][:D][:D] the next day should be interesting... in the Last day i spotted large number of Subs in Baker , Canton , Palmayra Triangle so i send ASW groups there as for now 1 I Boat sunk and 3 further Damaged [:D][:D]

not a bad result as i can easly cover my losses... i just had a briliant idea!! i will use the Circus Tactic employed by the Brits in 1943 to break the back of the Luftwaffe fighter force in France... i will send a squadron of my less exp fighters on ground attack and the rest as an escort[:D][:D][:D] soon i will be getting Lightnings FG in SF so i will convert it into Mohawks and then upgrade AVG to Lightinings[:D][:D]

A short Update... yesterday Jap surface TF consisting of 2 CL's and few DD's showed near Tarawa and jumped my ASW TF... in the wild mele all 6 US DD's were sunk i lost two or three PT's to but some of the Jap DD's were damaged when the morning Came SBD's from Tarawa sunk 4 Damaged DD's[:)] Today about 40 Nell's/Betty's Covered by over 40 Zeros attacked ships docked at Tarawa CAP consisting of 11 F-3-F claimed 1 Bomber and 2 Zeros losing 3 of their own... i just mover 48 P-40's and 16 Corsairs to Tarawa so next time Willie is in for a Suprise[:D] soon Tarawa will be lvl 4 Airfield so i will be able to stage 4E's there[:)] I Damaged another 2 Jap Subs... till now i sunk like two in the last week...

Only one Air battle over Mandalay yesterday my pilots downed 47 Tojos with loss of 25 P-40's and some Hurricanes and Kittyhawks... my units are taking positions W of Mandalay and i hope i will be able to push the japs out a bit...[:)] soon more Daktas will reach the Theather... so i will use my bombers to what they are designed not for carrying supply[:)]

Tarawa is changing into another Guadalcanal... with the expetion that all of my fleet just begun their Upgrades so i will have them ready in 3 weeks i hope...[:(] any way Tarawa itself is defended by a nr of PT boats and planes... last week i was twice visited by Japs CA's and even some BB's showed up... i claimed 2 DD's sunk by air Strikes in the morning.. but my subs are doeing nothing i concentrated them on the jap aproches tho the Gilberts but they are not intercepting the enemy[:(] i lost coupple of Transports around th Islands to the KB and enemy Subs... the situation is veary interesting...

Another String of Bad weather so no air action... im preapering to upgrade the P-40B's Squadron into Lightinings at the end of the Month...[:)] Willie Tryed Attacking Mandalay ageain but only meneged to get the Fort Down to 8 and his another succes was killing 10.000 his own troops[:D][:D][:D]

Tarawa is now Lvl. 5 Airfirld and Willie have to be a really brave to close in with his ships[:D] My troops are landing on Apayama and soon i will have another Air Strip ready... i planed to use Mankin as a treaining target but i think i will invade it in few weeks and build in a Strip there to allow my B-17's to reach the Marshall's. in within a month i should complete "Watchtower" with landing on Nanuru[:D]


Any way its awfuly quiet as my fleet is undergoeing upgrades as well as my subs[:)]

Well KB showed up ageain between Palmayra and Baker sinking my empty Convoy...[:(] the preparations to lunch 3rd phase of Watchtower are complet and the Unit designated to land on Nanuru is already loaded onto the Tranport... Transit time about two week's. In the same time my troops will Land on Mankin and build up a base there[:)] as recon showed Willie used his subs to evacuate units there... within a month Further Operation "Frog" will be lunched ageainst the Marshalls Those are the Red arrows on the map in the post above...[:D] During the last week my B-24's and B-17's visited Maloelap Destroying some planes on the Ground... as soon as the 5th Air Force HQ will be transported into Tarawa all further attacks will be hold...[:D]

Ripper is put on hold as i made some reshuffels in my air groups here it will be renewed within a week or two from Calcutta , Dacca and Imphal my forces consist of 2 FG's each with 72 P-40's B's and E's one P-24 E FS and one P-38 FS + all RAF Hurricane Squadrons i Will bomb Jap troops in Mandalay to Pices... i have Over a 100 Wellingtons 64 Mitchels and nearly a 100 of B-17's and B-24's[:D] i will just have to weait till my Air groups repair their planes after Upgrade[:D] I would love to bombe the hell out of Rangoon but its to heavyly defended[:D]

... as for now this is the only Operation with Combat... during last 3 Days i was able to Splash over 50 Tojo's with exp pilots losing 20 P-40's , and something like another 60 of /Hurricanes&Kittyhawks as the US Planes got most Exp i only care about their losses as i can easly replace lost Hurricanes and Kittyhawks[:D] i know that willie can produce 50 Tojos in a week but i don't care becouse 50 exp pilots are dead or captured and only ones that he can put in as Rep are guys with 40 or 50 Exp so they soon will become a fodder to my Pilots... i just stoped the bombing for few days to allow my planes to repair[:D]

Another String of bad weather nearly no action only seldom Willies planes bomb Mandalay or Fly LR Cap there... but then my airfields are in the bad weather[:@][:@] i just decided to send some P-39's to the Theather i got bunch of those doeing nothing on the West coast[:)]

Few USMC Raider teams landed and took Mankin i was in hell of a suprise when i discovered over 6000 mines laid there... but lucky for me only on AK was hit... now some MSW are working on those mines and a Naval base force and 2 Seabees units are unloading in the Port + some supply... my PT boats are stationed on Mankin now... Yesterday over 50 Bettys bombed the Harbor but with a misrable result of only 1 bomb hit[:D][:D] 8 Corsairs on CAP shoot down 2 Bettys now another Squadron of Corsairs is ordered LRCap Mankin and FG of 70 P-40's will also fly CAP there[:D][:D] Base force designated for Nanuru is at Baker awaiting some DD cover from Pearl and soon OP Frog Will be launched... i just weait till first CVE will reach Pearl to Sortie the Fleet[:D]

Operation Watchtower completed as my forces landed on Nanuru Island... Willie send coupple of DD's to intercept and i lost a MSW in the proces but my PT's were able to repel the enemy[:D][:D] now i will go on with Operation "FROG" soon i will write composition of my Forces[:D]

Few air strikes on Mandalay meet no oposition i just wounder where are Willies Planes[:D][:D][:D] ok will bomb him for a month or two and then i will see what develops... soon another FS will convert to Lightnings[:D] so i will have 48 of those baby's escorting my bombers...[:D]

OK i changed some plan's Pac Fleet reached Baker but it will not come to action till January 1943 and new Proximity Fuses[:D][:D] as Nik Wrote this will make my AAA even more deadly[:D] and any way within 3 Weeks i will recive Essex and two other CVE so it will be nice addition to my Fleet. Any Way Mili 1st Target of Frog was taken by a Marine Rider Bn... i sneeked it up in 2 AK's... well Willie's BB's visited Mili but my PT boats were on station and they damaged 3 DD's i lost a coupple but i got plenty more[:D] now im stacking up Supply in Mili by Air and my APD's a Running "Mili Express" i already droped an EAB unit there and its building up AF to lvl 2 there[:D] next run will bring part of a Base force[:D] From Mili my Corsair Will sweep Maloelap... and after that my 4E's will level the place[:D][:D]

"Mili Express" Droped a part of a Base force in Mili so now the work on my Airfield should go faster... any way im not taking any chances 2 days ago willie's DB strafed my PT's in Mili i lost a coupple but still i got another bunch of those... any now my P-47's fly LR Cap over the base and soon my Corsairs could fly in and start Sweeping Meolap and CAP my Transport carrying more Troops to Mili and takin "FROG" secound Objective... Majuro[:D][:D] + i need to Cover MSW whlie they Clean mines in Mili and Majuro[:D] but i have a problem there is no way to shut jap airfields as when i fly on like 15k Feet i got shoot up by FLAK and bombing from lets say above 20K feet couses 1-2 hits[:@][:@] even if i use over 100 4E... So maybe some Tip here Nik???

Im feed up with the Stand Still here... i will weait for another P-40 FG arrivind in Karachi and the i will stage it to Mandalay + i will LR Cap with 2 FS of Lighting's and Hurricanes... As soon as that happens i will fly in Aviation Rgt from Dacca to allow me for stationing more planes here and after i butcher Willies Planes bombing Mandalay i will Sweep nerbay bases... and soon i will Mine Rangoon from Air[:D][:D]

It can be done. Just takes some greater paitience. I finally shut down Mandalay in my game using B-25's supported by Commonwealth aircraft. My escorts took a beating but the bombers @ 19-21,000 feet finally acrued enough hits to make it unprofitable for my opponent to continue basing multiple fighter Sentais there. Took nearly two months of sparing though

Or you could use the Rroberson portraying Joseph Stalin as interin USAAF commander method and bull your way through regardless of the cost. (I advise rotating your bombers though vs. sending them all in at once in order to keep up the pressure)

Or you could pick an easier target

Or you could try some night attacks (depending on your house rules)

Or you could attempt some coordinated bomardments sea/air

I have a similar problem with Rangoon. The Japs apparently thought it would be groovy to base Nells and Betties there after they took the place, and they now control the entire eastern IO, including Diamond Harbour and Chandpur. And, since it's January '42, I can't do a sodding thing about it.

Thanks for the Tip Nik but i think you overdid it with the FLAK... its nice that FLAK is now effective but i think its to much... sorry but a strike of over 100 B-24's should do some damage... any way A2A model is Excelent[:D] but when i start another game with your Mod i will set up a House Rule Max 1 AA unit in a Base (2 in Japan) and no AA units in the open[:D]

As for my Battle Mili is lvl 2 Airfield and 10K supplies stacked there in a Day or two i will stage the Corsairs There[:D][:D]

As for Burma im transfering AvRgt from Ledo to Mandalay with Dakotas as soon as it's in Place im staging 150 P-40's there + LR cap it with P-38's and Hurricanes...

Time for some Ass Kicking[:D][:D]

Terminus i got lucky and build up Mandalay to Fort Lvl 9 and Willie can't capture the base... and as for landing he never tryed but i think my Buforts would make him feel quite miserable... he got coutious after My Martins Clobered Baby KB right at the start[:D][:D]

Ok i will now try Nik's suggestion... Just staged an exp. P-40E FG + 2 Squadrons of Kittyhawks and one Squadron of Spitfires Vb's to Madnalay and also i LR Caped it with 2 Lightnings Squadrons... well i will se what develops as Willie is bombing Mandalay as weather Premits... i also set my B-17 , B-24 , and B-25 to bomb Jap troops in Madnalay... i got over 60 P-40's in the Pool and another 100 in combat units based outside Madnalay[:D] so i can sustain War of Attrition as soon as Willie will attack and i will destroy some of his planes i will start sweeping his Bases...

Well all quiet willie's BB's showed up and bombed nanuru is. but no damage was inflicted... the Fleet is still at Baker weaiting for Essex and 2 CVE's to join in...[:D] in a coupple of days i will land on empty majuro and build up a base there as it has AF 0(2)[:D]

I got really lucky this time i set my Fighters in Mandalay to sweep Jap base and suddenly i saw over 500... Jap fighters sweeping Mandalay well with that nr my fighters would be butchered... any way my 4E's from Dacca are bombing Mandalay and yesterday Willie tryed to Shock attack the place well the outcome was clear his AV adjasted to 154 and my to over 15K... so a massacre of poor Japs...

In a day or two i will ladn on Majuro... and over 100 Liberators is bombing Meoljap... but the results are crappy i bomb from 20K as Willie has 2 AA units there i score lets say an avrange of 20 hits per strike... and still im unable to shut down the Airfield... i think Nik need's to do something about this Darn AA becouse its just to strong... come on over a 100 4E bombers hitting the empty airfield Daily and still unable to shut it down... any way im ataching a MAP of Burma...

BTW Nik the Air Model is great but do something about the darn FLAK and increase the Allied Fighter Production...[:D]
