Upgrade to 1.8 dosent work.

This is the workorder

had 1.6 upgraded to 1.8 : no problem
Starts WitP : when all the loading and movies are finished the sceen says 1.8 something but:
NONE of the changes are visible in the game, tried and started several new games. No detailed combat report ie. no assault value --> modified assault value.

Next step is to reinstall or what?

Have tried the 1.801 patch and the same thing there, no named pilot pool.

Do you have more than one copy of witp installed?

Ensure you are installing as the same user that installed originally. See the WinXP thread anchored here about the permissions things.

a) install needs to write into your registry
b) install needs to overwrite existing files in your game directory

c) a file of what happened during the install is created in your windows directory called War in the Pacific Setup Log.txt

This file will list any errors that happened. If you need to post it, *make* sure you edit it FIRST and remove your serial number.. If anything could not be done, it will be listed in here as an error.

Finally I fixed it, it was a file that strangly enough was write protected?
