eguipment database changes?

Post by Central Blue »

are there any major changes to the equipment database?

I haven't had much time to procrastinate lately, but when I do have time, I would like to be able to finish my 1961 V Corps scenario. Soviets at that time seem to have a lot of dual purpose AT/FA guns that aren't in the current database.

Otherwise the map is redesigned and different from those by Bevard or Marshall covering the same area. OOB is more or less figured out too.

Well, there's the BioEd. Did you see the modified .exe Sstevens uses for Berlin Crisis? I expect he has precisely that peice of equipment in there, among other things.

yes, I'm familiar with that. And I do use the various improved .exes when I play these days. But, I am also looking forward to the future and wondering where I should invest my design effort. Since I intend to spend my spare simoleans on the new version I don't want to duplicate my efforts. There wasn't much discussion of the equipment DB in the recently posted interview.

The equipment database is pretty much unchanged. We did tweak what the code does with the AA values, so they're much more effective, and Norm made some changes to the combat routines for his last patch.

I'll bet that someone gets BioEd to work with the new version pretty quickly.

I think it's been said on this forum before, but it's worth mentioning again- Biohazard (the designer of the BioEd) showed up at TDG a little while ago and it sounded like he was keen to do this. So it should happen.

Also, if it's still the BioEd being used, then you won't have to duplicate the effort if you start work on a modified .exe with COW. The BioEd can import and export database information to a file.

thanks for the info Ralph.

I'm kind of surprised that there will be no updates to the database. So I'm glad to hear that y'all are open to the bioed thingy.

...yet.

You know, I'm interested in this. I've always had to fudge things. Like when a WW2 Soviet AT regt goes from 16 to 20 to 24 guns. All with the same gun. Or when the Sov Tk Bgdes go from a mix of mediums and lights to all mediums. Sometimes, I just pick something close to the values I'm after. I've never used the Bioed, I'm not sure I'd know how.

Fairly straightforward. Just remember to hit "save" after you change each peice of equipment.

Hi guys,
I checked Bioed and it is currently not working with the EXE. Do you have any information about schedule for a new version?

I am really surprised that this is not a build in feature in the game... I really hoped to fix some issues with the equipment (Range of the HE 177 for example )...

Or the presence of the He-177 at all...

As I just noted on another thread, it is hoped that the BioEd will be ported to TOAW III, but I doubt there will be any schedule. If you want to create modified .exes, you'll have to do it for COW.
