Sealion & China

Post by fcam1387 »

I am just curious, what production do you go after when you are planning to invade the UK (ie do you build up a strong navy, how many transports should you make etc). By what turn should you commit to an attack - should it be around the summer of 41 (same as Barbarossa) or a bit later?

Also, do you guys think an all out attack on China by Japan is a feasable strategy? If have tried it several times (and am doing it now). It seems that Japan can succeed in wiping most of China out be mid 1942 but the question becomes what next? Do you go for the USSR or WA? Or do you buckle down and prepare an effective defense with your newly acquired resources?

Thanks for your thoughts

Hi fcam, attacking UK in 1940 is not really doable against a human player, so 1941 is earliest. You should build at least 3 extra transports (to transport 3 units, plus keep 1 trns in reserve). You should buy 3 Tac bombers + 2 Hvy bombers ready to strike by Win41. Getting Tac bombers up to Range 3 is great too, and you can have simultaneously Range 3 and 3 TB's ready in West Germany by Win41 for a strike, or wait the next turn for your Heavy's to also be completed for a massive attack on England. If you can't take England by Fall of 41, don't take it at all! Once into 1942, England isn't worth the effort. It seems like it, but every turn delayed attacking Russia will be much worse than any benefit from taking England in 42. Usually Su41 is the favored turn I would say. Once destroyed in 41, move all forces to the Russian border for an attack in Spr42. No later than that tho! And even then, Russia will still be a hard nut to crack (not the AI tho, its way to easy to beat)

Although attacking China is fun and worth it at some level, its much better imo, to use those same forces to attack Russia. Period. It's not a bad idea, it's just it doesn't give you the edge to win the game. If you do decide to attack China, attack it Turn 2, most likely at Changsha (east of Chungking) with overwhelming force, and for Turn 3, prepare all the supply and troops you can to take the remaining 3 Resource populated provinces. Repair all 3. That way, the hit you take from losing the US 3 free resources is minimized. OR, attack in Su41, when the US resource help wears out, and take all (but the 2 provinces in the NW) provinces by Wi42. Attack either Western Allies, in India, Southern Resource Area, OR USSR in Fa42, and I would suggest attacking WA at this point, but an attack on the USSR can also be effective as long as China is really wiped out. Don't forget to build extra garrison militia either!
