Font?

I played TOAW way back, years ago but haven't played since. On a whim I got this newest latest version and I'm in to playing it again.

But, the font hurts! Is there any way, mod or otherwise to change the font?

If you mean the size of the font, I don't believe so. If you mean reading the text, then you have two highlight options. You can find them by choosing the menu item "View > Options > Text Contrast > Highlight (or Maximum). To save this choice, exit the game after picking your preferred option, so that it writes to the config file.

Keep in mind that Highlight will blank out some imaged backgrounds. It is a very high contrast choice.

It is a bitmap font. You can only change it by modding the respective graphic files in the "Graphics" subfolder of the TOAW3 installation.

I know it's a pain, but you can reduce the resolution of the desktop too.

For the next version (not a patch) I'll look into using windows fonts, which allow scaling.

I agree that font needs, begs, to be changed.

Here's a file that does that called new_font.zip.txt that'll do it for you. When you
download this bad boy just rename it new_font.zip ( zip files aren't supported on this
forumn so I renamed it as a text file ). Unzip the contents to your altgraphics directory
and start up TOAW.

What desktop resolution are you running, and on what size monitor?

1280x1024 on Viewsonic P810 21" CRT

and

1280x960 on Viewsonic P815 21" CRT

So, things are small in the game window.
