Quick question

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

About to download this puppy.

I remember playing the Goetterdaemerung scenario on the 'old' TOAW. I found that the SS Panzer Divisions in Warsaw were nigh on impossible to destroy in straight combat. By that I mean the Axis late War armour was impossible to attrite with Soviet armour or planes.

I understand combat has been re-jigged. Could you elaborate on this and has AFV combat been re-jigged?

Regards,

Steven

Jamian had posted about it in an earlier thread. basically, it now has a chance of hitting the side armor which if thinner than the regular armor, so there's a chance of any given shot penetrating. That should help your chances a little.

If they're divisions, then they have soft targets, and passive defending equipment. Artillery and flanks attacks are your friends here. If they're dug in, then it may take a few attacks, before they're bounced into mobile deployment, but as soon as they are, a nice strong combined arms assault using fresh tank brigades with T-34/85's or better, should be able to push them out.

Alternately, you can always work the flanks, surround and bypass strongpoints like this and either let them starve down, or force them to fight their way out of the (impending) encirclement.

There's more than one way to skin a Panther.
