Back to the snakes (Terminus, I love your quote). I still say take out the moccasin and leave the other one.

Several years ago, I was playing with the dog in the back yard. Her ball went to the edge of the mowed grass and she would not go near it. I went to get the ball and it was about 4 feet from a blue indigo (none poisonous). I left the ball and snake alone. Indigos keep rattlers and coral snakes away. Very beneficial snake (and endangered). A good snake to have around.

I still will not pick up any kind of snake (don't like 'em never will).
For what we are about to receive, may we be truly thankful.

Well, as i said, haven't actually seen the poisonous guys except for photos (in the last year) ...

Dunno what the Water Mocassin has been eating - maybe the egrets that hang out down at the water hole... [:@] there are also a bunch of turtles (some snappers, i guess). If it picked on the snapping turtles, that would be ok with me (another nasty critter!)

A few years ago, there was a psychological theory that all fears in man are learned. That was quickly disproved and it was found that man has an inborn fear of heights... and snakes!!!

That can be overcome, though. I've never been REALLY afraid of them, and after I got to handle one a few years back, I have no problems at all.

Must change time zone for mine to EDT.

TD 1 is still a TD. "They" are saying it will go in north of Tampa as a TD or tropical storm. "They" are saying the winds should not be a real problem with a slight chance of tornados. The prediction for central Florida is 2 to 4 inches of rain (and we need it badly). We've already had several bad brush fires (some of which destroyed homes). Also smoke caused road closures last month (including parts of I-95) and contributed to auto accidents with fatalities.

The National Weather Service has announced the birth of Alberto, a bouncing 45-mph-sustained-winds male tropical storm, as of "mid-day" (which was strange, because it was announced before 11 a.m. EDT - maybe they are going by GMT??)

Grrr....

I'm here all alone all day at work waiting for the phone to ring, so I decided to run a PBEM turn or two. I ran my turn, saw the Hosho sink (first Japanese carrier sunk vs. a few US CVs and it's Jul 42). Overall, not too bad. I start to do my stuff to send to my opponent and I finally realize that my laptop is still using version 1.60. [X(][:@][:D]

Ah well, I'm running it again after wasting over an hour (laptop is sllloooowwww).

Ahh..the Hosho. AKA, IJN's Long Island.

And I thought I was the only one at work today.

I wonder if the turn will be the same. I'll let you know in a moment. Well, first ASW attack and it's different, in my favor. [:D] Near miss on a US sub.

Maybe the Hosho will be refloated.[;)]

Mike, what are you doing at work on a Sunday manning a phone. Isn't that what lieutenants are for.
