RE: THE THREAD!!!
I did not know this. If you do that, does it cause a Dane to "snap" [X(]ORIGINAL: Terminus
Dalsland, Värmland and Jämtland are in Sweden, you know...
A sure-fire way to get on a Dane's bad side is to mistake him for a Swede, and vice-versa.
I suppose that is a little like calling a Texan a Southerner.

Yes, we snap, and mutilate you heavily with our viciously barbed sense of humour.
Well, I will... Others might jump up and down on your head, or inflict uncountable stab wounds on your torso and neck.

This was an account of the "Great Northern War" 1700 - 1721 - "even called, “The Great Discord!" The most legendary, the most debated, criticized, admired, analyzed and longest of all of Sweden's wars. In spite of the fact that the war only amounts to a semicolon in World History, the literature on it fills meters of shelves."

RE: THE THREAD!!!
Yeah well, there's been animosity of some level or other between Denmark and Sweden for many centuries. We've fought several wars, and one of our two national anthems devotes an entire verse to how much we dislike the Swedes.

Ah - did not need to imply they WERE in Denmark... but search engines dredge up strange results (i plugged in Luxembourg Invades Denmark)... i just thought the composition of the Royal Forces was - strange.
This also came up a little later in the war (and you think YOU have logistics problems):
"Armfelt's Jämtland Army does not begin to withdraw until the first of the year and is caught in a snowstorm. 80% of its main force freezes to death or dies of frostbite."

RE: THE THREAD!!!
Strictly speaking, they were in Denmark, since Denmark owned Norway at the time...

Not being familiar with the war - i assume that Sweden managed to grab Dalsland, Värmland and Jämtland at some point. i started reading the account, but it was confusing without maps...

i'm not sure - i am still unclear who had the orchestra, jester, Luxemburg dwarf and the Turkish dancing girls, and if they were considered part of the army or not... [:'(]

RE: THE THREAD!!!
Sweden owned those three places the whole time. What I meant was that the Swedes invaded Norway (i.e. Denmark) from there.
Some of the more nationalistic Norwegians still dislike Denmark for what they call "The Night of 500 years".[X(]

i was trying to look up if Luxembourg ever did invade Denmark, and ran across this:
"The second Norwegian campaign. Three columns from Dalsland, Värmland and Jämtland attack Norway. Included in the Royal court in the field is among other things a court orchestra under the direction of Johan Jacob Bach (the brother of Johan Sebastian), a court jester, the midget Luxemburg and a number of Turkish belly dancers."
i suspect fabertong was in charge... [X(] [:'(]
Turkish belly dancers eh? Someone posted a page yesterday(?) about the car accidents and after rooting around there a bit found a 40+ minute belly dancer video.[X(] I watched about 5 minutes of it last night and was mesmerized.[:)] I had to turn it off, but unfortunately my wife had already gone to sleep.[:(]
