Titans will not even load

I've tried installing Titans of Steel, but when I try to install the game, it just freezes.
Tried clicking on setup on the CD, no differance.
Get the message from the computer saying there is "no disc in drive".
I do not have a problem reading other discs.
Could the disc be defective?

Updated with Microsoft "safedisc" patch, finally able to install game.
It takes about 20 seconds for disc to be reconized
But now can not get patch for updating, tried updating from game menu
and directly from website, no luck, patch appears to be missing.

How does it appear to be missing? The updater exe says cannot connect or no patch found, or what? You can also download the patch outside of the game and apply it - what do you mean "directly from website, no luck, patch appears to be missing"? The page with the link to the patch is this one:

Edit: forgot to ask... since you ran the safedisc patch, are you installing on a limited user account?

The link it working now, got patch.
About 5 hours ago when I tried to get the patch, it was not working
Tried clicking on it and right clicking "to save as".
It seemed like the whole FTP site was not there.

And I'm not on a limited user account.
